Overview

The Z 800 took up the torch of the total success that was the Z 750 lineage. However, the hegemony of this roadster was challenged by the MT-09, not to mention a few kicks from the MT-07. Yamaha’s vengeful duo did not sink the Z, far from it, which continues to figure in the top 10 of the market. While waiting for the Z 800 to receive a welcome evolution (it is heavy and its engine is aging), its philosophy of a threatening machine urges it to be offered in a special Sugomi edition. A principle, an idea that contributed to the development of the latest Z 1000 and 800. Indeed, the big Z is also available in the same special series. The Japanese word speaks little to Westerners. It is much more intimidating in Japanese culture, mixing strength, fear, and respect.

This philosophical paragraph being completed, let's focus on the machine itself. Despite these few defects, the Z 800 is pleasant to ride and its looks are fiercely appealing. It will be even more appreciated with this double shock color scheme, scorched metallic black accented with candy red. We find this same purple hue for the rim accents and the anodization of the fork tubes. We complete the equipment with a carbon Akrapovic silencer. The Slovenian manufacturer takes care of the product, with a specific stamp on the pot bearing the name of this special edition, a carbon protection under the pilot’s footrest and another to preserve the exhaust valve. Does the Z 800 reach the peak of its ferocity with this Sugomi version? It seems in any case to want to fight to the end on the strategic ground of mid-size roadsters.
