Overview
It’s impossible to pass this Kawasaki Z 900 RS by MRS Oficina without stopping, captivated by a silhouette that seems to have crossed decades. Kawasaki France renewed its collaboration with the workshop for this third creation, and the result is a café-racer that breathes authenticity, far from simple cosmetic additions. The project takes the base of the Z 900 RS, this modern evocation of the legendary Z1, and transforms it into an almost artisanal object, where every modification seems to have been conceived by hand.

MRS Oficina’s work is an exercise in balance between preservation and transformation. The front of the frame remains original, but the rear is reworked to accommodate the suede leather seat and the two Öhlins shock absorbers. The aluminum swingarm is modified to house the battery, discreetly strapped with leather. The original headlight, forks, and dashboard are retained, but all around, the preparer has infused his vision. The materials speak for themselves: titanium for the exhaust line, carbon fiber for the five-spoke Rotobox rims, reinterpreted aluminum. This choice of high-tech components is not gratuitous luxury; the carbon fiber rims relieve the machine by approximately 10 kg, the titanium exhaust line with its in-house silencer and K-Factory header removes another 3 kg. The motorcycle gains lightness without losing its character.
The riding position, with its Renthal handlebars and Borani Racing rearset controls, announces a sporty, almost aggressive attitude. The Beringer brake and clutch levers add a touch of pure performance, while the brakes and switches remain those of the series model. This prepared Z 900 RS does not hide its intentions: it is made to be ridden, not just admired. With its 948 cm3 engine delivering 111 horsepower at 8500 rpm and a torque of 98 Nm at 6500 rpm, the mechanical base already offers remarkable liveliness. The preparer has not touched this essence, focusing on agility and style.
Who is the audience for this machine? It’s not the beginner seeking a docile motorcycle, nor the touring rider wanting great comfort. It’s the aesthete passionate about motorcycle history, the one who sees in the line of the Z1 an unsurpassed reference, but who also desires a unique, personalized motorcycle, with a touch of technical modernity. The price of €22,000 places this creation in a very specialized segment, where added value is artisanal work and the materials chosen. Compared to a standard production café-racer, this Z 900 RS by MRS stands out for its homogeneity; every modification seems consistent, nothing appears added randomly.
The result, completed in just six months, is presented with legitimate pride. After its presentation at the Paris Motor Show, it begins a tour, with Milan as its first stop. This motorcycle is a testament to what a talented preparer can achieve when he fuses his intuition with a base already steeped in history. It does not revolutionize mechanics, but it sublimates the café-racer spirit, offering a credible and vibrant alternative to purely commercial replicas. One leaves this encounter with the desire to see this machine on the road, to feel if the work on weight and posture also transforms the riding experience, beyond simple visual admiration.
