Overview
Imagine a hastily scribbled travel journal, with mud stains on the cover and a route of which you’ve forgotten the destination. That’s roughly the mindset the 2025 Husqvarna Norden 901 Expedition seeks to provoke. Not a sensible machine for Sunday hikes, but a tool designed for those who look at a map and first see the blank areas.

The base Norden had already laid the foundations of a trail with a strong identity, that angular Scandinavian profile that contrasts with Japanese roundness or English classicism. The Expedition pushes the logic further, transforming a good all-round trail into something that resembles a true expedition tool. The WP XPLOR fork increases to 48 mm in diameter compared to 43 mm on the standard version, the stroke increases to 240 mm, and the rear shock gains high and low-speed compression adjustments. Faced with a KTM 890 Adventure R, its direct cousin from Mattighofen, or a Triumph Tiger 900 Rally, the numbers align. The Husqvarna Norden 901 Expedition holds its place in this segment without blushing, with a ground clearance of 270 mm that speaks for itself off-road.
The 889 cm3 parallel-twin engine develops 105 horsepower at 8,000 rpm and 100 Nm at 6,500 rpm. These figures are identical to those of the classic Norden, the Euro 5+ update having cost nothing in terms of performance. The engine is lively without being nervous, built to last rather than to impress on a specification sheet. At 214.5 kg dry, the weight remains manageable compared to a fully loaded Africa Twin, but you will need to factor in the total of 36-liter waterproof saddlebags, the aluminum skid plate, the seat and heated grips in the real balance. The 19-liter tank, combined with a consumption announced at around 4.5 l/100 km, provides a serious theoretical range to swallow the kilometers between stations.

The electronics follow with four riding modes, including the Explorer mode, exclusive to this version, which allows the rider to individually adjust each parameter, from traction control on ten levels to anti-wheelie management. 320 mm disc brakes with radial four-piston calipers and switchable cornering ABS complete a coherent picture. For connectivity, a dedicated module allows pairing a smartphone, downloading maps and managing turn-by-turn navigation. The 2025 update adds a USB-C socket, a distress light and revised mirrors, details that count over time.

At 16,749 euros, the Husqvarna Norden 901 Expedition 2025 is clearly positioned in the high end of the adventure trail market with a true off-road vocation. It's more expensive than a Ténéré 700 Extreme or an Aprilia Tuareg 660, but the standard equipment justifies part of the difference. The 887 mm seat remains high, which will limit the audience to medium and tall builds, or riders willing to work on their foot technique. This is not a machine for beginners, nor for those seeking GT highway comfort. This is a motorcycle for people who know why they are leaving and who have not planned to return clean. For them, the Husqvarna Norden 901 Expedition ticks the essential boxes with a consistency that commands respect.
