Overview
The Slim received a serious update in 2018, with the same set of improvements as the entire Softail range. That year was a tactical moment for this family, with significant technical modifications and the welcoming of models that had to abandon the Dyna frame. A chapter apart... Let's stay focused on the Slim. Almost unchanged in terms of design, it nevertheless undergoes a significant rejuvenation.
By incorporating the Milwaukee-Eight 1745 cm3 engine, the Slim makes a leap in power and torque. More modern, more civilized, still Harley, the 4-valve per cylinder engine gives the machine a much more present vigor. On the chassis side, everything is new. The faux Hardtail frame benefits from a new design, requiring fewer welds and parts. We gain weight and rigidity. Significantly. In addition to a more dynamic ride and more effective handling, the Slim claims a weight reduction of 17 kilograms. Impressive!
This new frame has also seen the migration of the rear suspension. The pair of shock absorbers under the engine is exchanged for a single shock absorber hidden under the seat. For the front, the double-valve fork has already proven its effectiveness on Touring models. It can only positively respond to the expectations of Slim riders. This Softail takes advantage of this evolution to adopt some dark touches. On the spoked wheels, the fork and the Hollywood handlebars. Its Bobber tendency is even more evident.
