Overview
The Nightster, a name that made custom enthusiasts dream in the 2000s, is finally back. But be warned, this is not a simple cosmetic update. Harley-Davidson has decided to shake things up by replacing the faithful air-cooled V-twin with a modern engine, the Revolution Max 975T. A radical change that marks the end of an era and the entry into a new world for the Sportster.

This new engine, a 60° V-twin cooled by liquid, is a statement of intent. With 89 horsepower at 7500 rpm and 95 Nm of torque at 5750, it moves away from the burly character of the old long-stroke engines. The dimensions are square, the bore exceeds the stroke, which promises more lively revs. Compared to the old 1200, a little traction is lost at very low speeds, but agility is gained. It's an interesting gamble, especially to attract a new generation of riders looking for a bit more power without sacrificing custom aesthetics.
On the chassis, Harley has played the card of structural modernity. The engine serves as a stressed member, a choice that contributes to a reasonable wet weight of 221 kg. The suspension, with a 41 mm Showa fork and a single shock at the rear, is conventional but sufficient. The Brembo braking system, with a radial disc at the front, is a significant upgrade. They have even integrated riding modes, traction control, and ABS, equipment that was absent on the previous generation. For a roadster intended for touring and city riding, it's a coherent package.
The true charm of this machine lies in its positioning. With a 705 mm seat height and an 11.7-liter fuel tank hidden under the seat, it clearly targets the urban rider or the beginner looking for an accessible Harley. Belt drive and the maneuverability promised by the specific tires in 100/90-19 and 150/80-16 sizes make it an easy bike to live with. It positions itself as a more vintage and less intimidating alternative than the Sportster S 1250, its muscular brother. It's the modern custom for those who don't want a too aggressive look.
But there is one point that makes you cringe: the price. At 15690 euros, it is no longer anything like the affordable offer of the original Nightster. Harley-Davidson is selling an image, a technology, and an evolution here, but the entry ticket is high. For this price, one could expect a little more refinement in the finishes or more generous power. It's a beautiful machine, successful in its reinterpretation of the Sportster style, but it requires a significant investment. It will appeal to those who want the custom spirit with the guarantees of modernity, but purists of air-cooled engines may regret this transition, despite its technical advantages.
