Overview
The CVO Road Glide Limited 120th Anniversary represents the ultimate expression of the prestige Harley-Davidson is capable of. Grandeur, demanding design, luxury, and refinement to shatter a wallet for this heavy road vessel.
120 years that William Harley and the Davidson brothers (Arthur, William, and Walter) embarked on a mechanical adventure. This jubilee deserves special attention. Six other Harley models bear the commemorative colors of the event, but here, with this Road Glide, we are in another dimension. That of the opulence of barons, business jets, and cognac connoisseurs aged 50 years.
Originally, this Tourer is enormous. A true machine for devouring the road while crushing mile markers under its Tomahawk tires. By combining CVO luxury treatment and the 120th-anniversary emblems, Harley gives it an even more solemn appearance. A blend of stormy amber, where a soaring eagle is reflected, is applied to a black background; the two separated by hand-traced red and gold pinstripes. Deeply sublime.
The tank receives medallions also in the shape of an eagle, with gold plating (wow!). The Custom Vehicle Operation really indulged themselves with this motorcycle, without forgetting to take care of its engine. The Milwaukee Eight twin features red accents on its rocker covers and pushrods, as well as a gold finish for the badges adorning the air filter box, the gearbox housing, the alternator housing, and the top of the horn.
This CVO didn’t just focus on the aesthetics. It is also richly equipped with superb Alcantara seats with gold and red stitching, heated for both the rider and passenger. Heated grips are also standard and are part of the Kahuna collection. The exhaust tips, foot controls, and footpegs are also part of the collection. Entertainment is provided by the Boom Box GTS multimedia console and the Rockford Fosgate sound system with 100 watts per channel. The onboard system can read SD cards, USB, and MP3 files, informs you of everything with a 6.5-inch color TFT screen, manages the rider/passenger intercom, traces your route with GPS, can pair with your smartphone via Bluetooth, has a large fifteen languages… and even allows you to listen to the radio.
But that’s not what holds the crew’s attention the most. If they opted for a CVO, it’s for its jubilant charisma and its engine. A true beef heart, with ventricles totaling 1923 cm3. Perhaps its 4-valve per cylinder technology, semi-liquid cooling, high-performance camshaft, and Heavy Breather air filter will intrigue you… while only its unconditional breath will, through your sensations. In the middle of Harley’s character, 16.9 mkg at 3500 rpm will break out. A huge hand pushing in your back, unleashing its momentum at a rev where most overexcited motorcycles are just beginning their effort.
For some time now, this engine has not been the privilege of CVO models. High-character models like the Low Rider S, the Breakout 117, or the ST models have embraced it. To assert its particular prestige, the Road Glide Limited CVO 120th could have presented something even more impressive and exclusive. Alas, it seems there’s nothing of that in stock (not yet…). Come on, it already roars enough to mess with the body, the heart, and the hair. But…
But it’s time to go chase the end of the highways. This Harley has planned large footrests for boots, and footrests on the crash bars to relax the legs. More than to engage the cruise control and let it do its thing. A cruise control, isn’t that a little too much for a Harley?!? No more or less than all the onboard assistance: cornering ABS, residual torque control, traction control, hill hold control, tire pressure monitoring, front/rear linked braking, keyless start, etc.
Now, forget a bit about the classic considerations and take a metaphysical moment. Acquiring the CVO Road Glide Limited 120th anniversary puts you in a club of 1,500 people. Or rather, riding one of the 1,500 units of this exceptional liner. Provided you have very solid kidneys. At over €60,000, it is the most expensive Harley-Davidson ever produced in series. The laser-engraved serial number on the center console will remind you of a certain allegiance to history.
