Overview
So, a Harley that weighs less than its predecessor is an event in itself. We're talking about the new Street Glide Ultra, and yes, it tips the scales at 393 kilograms fully fueled, which is a good twenty-three kilograms less than the Ultra Limited it replaces. For a machine built for long distances, this is already a first message: Milwaukee has tightened a few bolts. But don't be fooled, we're still in the realm of a touring liner, with that feeling of stepping into a rolling lounge rather than simply straddling a motorcycle.

At the heart of the thing is, of course, the Milwaukee Eight 117. Farewell to the 114, make way for 1923 cm3 that unleash 107 horsepower and, above all, 175 Nm of torque from 3500 rpm. This is where the beast's soul lies: a ventral, massive thrust available with a simple touch of the wrist, which cheerfully makes you forget the size. It lifts these nearly 400 kilograms with an ease that commands respect. Compared to the larger competing twin cylinders, more powerful on paper, the Harley has this unique way of delivering power, without haste but with absolute authority. For the long-distance traveler who counts the miles, this is exactly what they need.
This Ultra distinguishes itself from the classic Street Glide with its complete touring equipment. The Tour Pak top case, the side bags, and the storage pockets in the lower fairing offer a monstrous volume of 139 liters. The passenger is treated like a king with an integral backrest. And in front, the rider is sheltered behind a taller windshield and a fairing headstock that would reduce turbulence by 60% according to the manufacturer. It’s a bubble of comfort, a two-wheeled fortress. The Skyline OS infotainment system, with its 31 cm screen, navigation, powerful audio, and connectivity, completes the transformation of the cockpit into a high-tech command post. We are far from the roots aesthetic; here, luxury and technology take precedence.

Who rides this machine? Clearly for the confirmed long-distance traveler, the one who aims for the interstate highways more than winding mountain passes. At €21,900, it is a significant investment, but you are buying a status, a presence, and an unparalleled ecosystem of comfort in the grand touring cruiser world. It doesn’t have the nimble agility of a BMW K 1600 or the versatility of a Gold Wing, but it imposes its own rhythm, made of relaxation, assumed style, and that signature rumble. It’s more than a motorcycle; it’s a statement. It won’t please those seeking liveliness, but it will enchant those for whom the journey is a ceremony.
