Overview
Five hundred units worldwide, a €5,900 premium over the base Vivid Black version, and not a single extra horsepower under the seat. Welcome to the very particular world of the Harley-Davidson Street Glide Special Arctic Blast, a 2021 limited edition where you're paying first and foremost for a paint job. But what a paint job.

The Milwaukee-Eight 1868 cc engine remains strictly identical to that of the catalog Street Glide Special. Its 45° V-twin produces 89 horsepower at 5,020 rpm and, more importantly, 157.9 Nm of torque from just 3,250 rpm. Nothing high-strung here, nothing trying to mimic a sportbike. This is a cruising engine, built to devour asphalt in fifth gear without ever raising its voice. With its 375 kg wet weight and a top speed capped at 160 km/h, the machine doesn't play in the same league as sporty baggers like the Indian Challenger. It embraces its continental ocean liner temperament — composed and unflappable. The low 690 mm seat height allows average-sized riders to plant both feet flat on the ground, which is no luxury when maneuvering a machine of this caliber at a standstill.
What sets this limited edition apart is a paint job done by hand by the craftsmen at Gunslinger Custom Paint, based in Golden, Colorado. They're the ones who typically supply the finishes for CVO models, Milwaukee's ultra-premium range. The Arctic Blast colorway plays on a deep blue laced with metallic flake, accented by hexagonal patterns on the fairing. The serial number appears discreetly on the sides of the 22.7-liter tank. From a distance, the livery almost evokes a CVO. Except CVOs don't stop at paint: they also come with dedicated equipment, upgraded finishes, and sometimes a bored-out engine. Here, none of that. The technical specification remains that of a standard Street Glide Special, with its 49 mm inverted fork, twin rear shocks limited to 54.6 mm of travel, and braking handled by 300 mm discs front and rear.
Should you then shell out €35,090 for what amounts, let's be honest, to an exclusive paint job? The question deserves to be asked. The €5,900 surcharge over the reference model is a substantial sum for a purely aesthetic upgrade. But that's precisely the game with limited editions: you're buying rarity, an object that will exist in only 500 units on the planet. For the collector or the custom enthusiast looking to stand out at the next rally, the argument holds. For the rider seeking a well-equipped, high-performing bagger at this price point, better to look toward an Indian Chieftain Dark Horse or even a BMW R 18 B, both of which offer more technical substance for a comparable budget.

The Street Glide Special Arctic Blast is therefore aimed at a very specific audience: die-hard brand loyalists, drawn to craftsmanship and exclusivity, willing to pay top dollar for a color that no one else will have in their garage. It's a motorcycle bought with the heart more than the head. And at Harley-Davidson, they've long known that passion rarely needs a spreadsheet to justify itself.
