Overview
Four hundred and twenty-three kilograms fully loaded. That number alone sets the scene. The 2021 Harley-Davidson Road Glide Limited FLTRK doesn't play in the category of machines you push by hand through a sloped parking lot. It owns its heft with the poise of an ocean liner entering port, "Shark Nose" fairing as its bow, and speaks only to those who understand that motorcycle touring sometimes comes in the heavyweight superlative.

Beneath that mass, the Milwaukee-Eight 1868 cc engine serves as the locomotive. This 45° V-twin produces 89 hp at 5,020 rpm — modest cavalry on paper. Except the real story lies elsewhere: 117.2 lb-ft of torque available from just 3,000 rpm. Where a Honda Gold Wing Tour or a BMW R 1250 RT ask you to climb through the rev range to unlock their potential, the Harley spills its guts in the first third of the throttle. The V-Twin pulls hard, pulls low, pulls with that rough mechanical signature that is the very essence of the Milwaukee brand. It vibrates less than the previous-generation Twin Cam, granted, but retains enough character to remind you that you're not riding a vacuum cleaner.
The Road Glide Limited sets itself apart from the former Ultra with an electronic package that would have made purists smirk ten years ago. The RDRS suite — Reflex Defensive Rider Systems — packs a two-map traction control, cornering ABS, lean-sensitive linked braking, drag-torque slip control, and a hill-start assist. On a Harley tourer. Times change, and Milwaukee with them. The Boom Box GTS system sits on a 6.5-inch color TFT screen, centralizing GPS navigation, radio, music playback, and hands-free phone calls via voice recognition. The H-D Connect app even lets you monitor the bike remotely from a smartphone: fuel level, battery charge, theft alert. Subject to a monthly subscription after the complimentary first year — a detail the sales rep will probably forget to mention.

On the chassis side, the tubular steel double-cradle frame rests on a 49 mm telescopic hydraulic fork and twin rear shock absorbers. The 18-inch Slicer II wheels at both ends wear 130/70 rubber up front and 180/55 at the rear, slowed by 300 mm discs clamped by four-piston calipers. The seat, perched just 735 mm off the ground, welcomes rider and passenger in living-room comfort. The 22.7-liter tank and 132 liters of storage split between two hard saddlebags and the Tour Pak turn every departure into a mini moving day. The belt drive and six-speed gearbox deliver smooth riding, without the upkeep of a greasy chain.

At €29,690, the Road Glide Limited targets a very specific audience: the long-haul tourer, the kind who devours French back roads or American highways with equal appetite. It will convince neither the track enthusiast nor the hurried urban rider. Its 170 km/h top speed confirms that velocity is not its playground. On the other hand, for anyone seeking an American-style GT bristling with modern technology, capable of swallowing miles in opulent comfort, the Limited delivers on its promises. Its only real flaw remains its weight, which demands experience and strong arms at low speed. Once rolling, it fades into the background. And that is precisely its greatest talent.
