Overview
Who still dares claim that Milwaukee doesn't know how to do technology? With the 2023 Road Glide Limited FLTRK, Harley-Davidson sends a clear signal to grand touring enthusiasts: the American V-twin wants to play in the same league as electronics-laden European machines. Succeeding the Road Glide Ultra, this Limited version pushes the refinement bar one notch higher. 18-inch Slicer II wheels at both ends, standard heated grips, Pin Striping trim in the fairing, discreet badges on the fenders. The territory is staked out: the target is the demanding long-distance rider, the one who devours back roads and highways alike and refuses to choose between comfort and character.

Beneath that massive bodywork beats the Milwaukee-Eight 1868 cc, a 45° V-twin producing 87 hp at 5,020 rpm. Not enough to worry a Honda Gold Wing or a BMW R 1250 RT on paper. But the real trump card lies elsewhere: 159.8 Nm of torque available from just 3,000 rpm. Where a Gold Wing Tour asks you to climb to 4,500 rpm and a BMW Grand America to rev even higher to express their full potential, the Harley lays everything on the table at the bottom of the rev range. This immediate generosity delivers a sensation of frank, almost lazy thrust—typically American. The engine vibrates less than the old Twin Cams, but it retains that sonic and mechanical signature that is the very essence of a Milwaukee flat-twin. You will never mistake this powertrain for anything else.
On the rider aids front, Harley has closed the gap with the RDRS package—Reflex Defensive Rider Systems. Two-map traction control, cornering ABS, linked braking sensitive to lean angle, anti-wheelie via engine torque management, tire pressure monitoring sensors, hill start assist. The list rivals what BMW, Ducati, and KTM offer on their premium models. For a brand long criticized in this area, the shift is decisive. The Boom Box GTS infotainment system, operated via a 6.5-inch TFT screen, handles GPS navigation, music, voice-activated phone calls, and passenger intercom. The H-D Connect app even lets you monitor your motorcycle remotely: fuel level, battery charge, anti-theft alert. The service runs on a subscription after the first complimentary year and requires network coverage. A detail worth keeping in mind.

Then there's the matter of size. At 423 kg fully fueled, with a seat height of 735 mm and a 22.7-liter tank, the Road Glide Limited is not a machine you maneuver lightly in a parking lot. It's aimed at experienced riders, comfortable with imposing mass, who know that those kilos vanish within the first few meters of riding. The steel double-cradle frame, 49 mm fork, and twin rear shocks absorb road imperfections adequately, without pretending to match the agility of a sport-touring bike. Four 300 mm discs squeezed by four-piston calipers handle braking duties—a setup consistent with this weight. Belt drive and a six-speed gearbox round out a package designed for the long haul, not for threading through tight corners.

At €33,590, the price tag is steep. But it includes a level of standard equipment few competitors can match, and above all a charisma that neither numbers nor spec sheets can quantify. The Road Glide Limited doesn't sell on raw performance. It sells on a promise: to turn every kilometer into a ritual, with 132 liters of storage across the saddlebags and top case, cruise control, and that shark-nose fairing cutting through the wind like nothing else on the road.
