Overview
When Milwaukee decides to revisit a special edition, you expect a spectacle. With this 2016 Street Bob in Special Edition trim, the bar-and-shield firm executes a complete 180-degree turn from the previous year: no more chromatic exuberance, just a deep, uncompromising black. A bold aesthetic choice, one that owns itself, and fits perfectly with the DNA of a bobber built for those who prefer muscular restraint over easy flamboyance.

What strikes you immediately is the coherence of the styling project. Harley drew from its Factory Customization program to assemble a machine that flirts with bespoke without reaching CVO price territory. The ape-hanger handlebar gives way to a drag-style bar, the forward controls come from the Sportster 72 universe, the risers and tank are borrowed from the Fat Bob. The result imposes a more compact, more taut riding position that genuinely transforms the experience. You go from relaxed cruiser to American-style café racer, with a posture that clearly states the intent. The Split Five aluminum wheels with five diamond-machined spokes complete the portrait of a rebel with a careful eye for detail. And the bobbed rear fender finishes the picture with that economy of material that purists of the genre appreciate.
Beneath the dark bodywork, the 1690 cc Twin Cam 103 fires at the sacred 45-degree angle. 76 horsepower at 5,250 rpm is honest without being electrifying on paper. But the true character of this V-twin reveals itself elsewhere: 129.4 Nm of torque available from 3,000 rpm. This is where Harley's engine reveals its deep nature — that thick, sustained push that pins the rider to an imaginary backrest and drives the iron block forward with quiet conviction. The six-speed gearbox paired with belt drive does the rest, cleanly, without brutality.
The 304 kg wet weight is a reality that would be dishonest to gloss over. Against an Indian Scout Bobber or even a Triumph Bonneville Bobber, the scales don't flatter. At low speed and in tight maneuvers, the weight makes itself known. On open roads it becomes transparent, the machine being stable enough to swallow miles without excessive fatigue — the modest 680 mm seat height helping to plant your feet with confidence. The claimed top speed of 160 km/h confirms this bobber has no highway ambitions: its playground is the secondary road, the Sunday ride, the urban commute where its visual presence turns heads.

At €15,300, this Street Bob Special Edition occupies delicate territory. It's noticeably more than a standard model, and the buyer must be fully sold on the complete styling package to justify the difference. The Badlander two-up seat is an appreciated touch, the finishes are polished, and the level of factory customization remains difficult to match at this price. This bobber is made for riders with a deep cultural connection to the Milwaukee brand, those seeking a finished machine rather than a starting point for endless modifications. For others, Asian and European competition offers lighter and sometimes more versatile alternatives. But none of them have that V-twin growling at low revs as if the road belongs to it by birthright.
