Overview

Monstrous custom or calculated violence for America? Surely both for this surprising machine. The XDiavel is not just a super-powerful power-cruiser; it’s also a demonstration of new realities for Ducati.

In 2021, the XDiavel gained watts while passing regulations. It now reaches 160 hp, 70% more than a revanchard Harley 114 Breakout. In addition to its demonic build, its personality leans towards "Fast & Furious" in this Black Star version.

Positioned just above the S. The cosmetic effect plays the main role, with grey undertones wanting to conquer the tank. A red border divides the territory then this color escapes to find support on the valve covers of the 1262 cm3 twin. You’d almost believe that the 13 mkg of torque is too hot underneath. The XDiavel Black Star undertakes new, lighter 2 kg forged aluminum rims. This brings its weight back to the same level as the Dark model, 247 kg ready to ride.

The large X on the engine guard is there to recall that this Ducati is at the crossroads of several paths, a convergence of ideas, a blend of genres. But it is above all a custom in the Ducati style, therefore a cannonball propelled by a growling engine while having the attitude of a bad-boy-cruiser.

The equipment is up to the fever. The trellis frame holds a 50 mm diameter fully adjustable inverted fork with DLC coating. Between the twin with variable valve timing and the monobrach, the connection is made by a fully adjustable rear shock absorber. The most solicited brakes will be the front Brembo M50 4-piston calipers, biting 320 mm discs. If the contrast between tire sizes is as marked as on American productions (120 at the front and 240 at the rear), it will not prevent the XDiavel from being much more alert than the machines in its segment.

Once settled in the specific Black Star saddle, covered with a suede fabric with superior grip, the pilot's intentions will be endorsed by a good dose of embedded electronics: 3 Riding Modes (Sport / Touring / Urban), traction control, a launch control, an inertial unit, a cornering ABS, a speed regulator... and an extra layer for style and comfort, with keyless start, a daytime signature light, a 3.5-inch color TFT dashboard doubled with a small window on the handlebars for control icons, backlit switches and a multimedia system via Bluetooth + smartphone.

A more styled version of the XDiavel S, the Black Star should logically position itself a little more expensive. Instead, it hits a tiny bit less than its brother. A pity that this version lost the milled finish of the belt guards.
