Overview
Who said a Ducati sportbike had to be a back torture and a daily commute ordeal? The Ducati Supersport 950 S, particularly in its 2021 version, plays the role of a spoiler in the family of red rockets. It offers a credible alternative for those who dream of a sonorous V2 and a Trellis frame, but without the sometimes exclusive radicality of a Panigale. It's a motorcycle that speaks to the heart of the sporty touring rider, one who wants to be able to cover kilometers without being physically punished, but keep the option of seriously enjoying themselves in the curves.

Its engine, a 937 cc Desmodromic, delivers 110 horsepower at 9000 rpm and a torque of 93 Nm lower in the range. These figures are not the most explosive in the segment, but they are skillfully dosed. Power is accessible, the growling twin not brutal, ideal for daily use or sporty road trips. Compared to a Yamaha YZF-R7 or even an Aprilia RS 660, it focuses less on pure nervousness and more on mid-range generosity, a typically Ducati sensation. The announced weight, 210 kg fully fueled, is a serious argument against often lighter competitors, but it is forgotten thanks to a well-thought-out weight distribution and a 810 mm seat that offers a remarkable comfort/aggressiveness compromise.
The S version is precisely distinguished by its suspension package. The basic Marzocchi forks are replaced by a 48 mm Öhlins NIX fork and an Öhlins TTX rear shock, both fully adjustable. This upgrade transforms the character. Road feel becomes more precise, more communicative, and the motorcycle gains versatility. It can absorb the imperfections of a national road without problem and transform into an agile partner on a circuit. It is this duality that defines its DNA. The electronics are well present with a Cornering ABS, an adjustable traction control, a wheelie control and three riding modes, all managed via a 4.3-inch TFT screen. For those looking for a used Ducati Supersport 950 S, checking the condition of these high-end suspensions is crucial.
The price, around €15690 for the 2021 version, places the machine in a particular niche. It is not the least expensive sportbike, nor the most performant in raw numbers. But it may be the most charismatic and consistent in its sport-GT proposition. One can regret that elements such as the Ducati multimedia kit or an Akrapovic line are not included, but the essence of the project remains intact. This motorcycle does not target the pure beginner, nor the chrono-obsessed track rider. It targets the informed enthusiast, one who wants a machine capable of doing everything with class, a V2 alive under the frame, and the prestige of a name that resonates. The Ducati Supersport 950 S, whether it is white or in another color, remains a solid argument for those who believe that motorcycle sport can also be a story of lasting pleasure.
