Overview
One wheel on the track, another on the road. Here is the proposition of the Ducati Supersport. This allows those intimidated by the fiery Panigale to taste Italian sport without its radicality. A twin that rumbles, a lady with delicate attire, a tempo between the chronograph and the pleasure of the sliders… and the need for a more tempered efficiency with the S version.
At Ducati, the S marks membership in the high-end suspension club. For some motorcycles, like the Multistrada, this corresponds to electronically managed damping. But the majority of models will feature Öhlins equipment. The SuperSport 950 S thus has the right to beautiful golden legs, designed to reward the curve rather than reveal it.
In place of the 43 mm Marzocchi, we discover a fork with a large diameter of 48 mm. Its tubes are treated with titanium nitride for better sliding. Behind, there is a shock absorber from the same house. These suspensions are, of course, adjustable everywhere. Enough to offer a more effective road feel.
Increased rigor alone has not arrived. The SuperSport S knows how to carry character and charm. A bit of coquetry accompanies it, with a seat back matched to the color of the bodywork and a red groove on the rims. It would have been nice if Ducati also offered the DMS multimedia kit, or installed a few lighter elements to symbolically reduce the weight. Well, at 210 kilos, the 950 SuperSport is not a sledgehammer. But……. Ego always has a more or less large place when you taunt the slider and discussions around the machine.
Because it will inevitably be asked if it works well, how much the engine spits out (110 horsepower), if the twin is indeed 950 cm3 (no, the displacement is 937 cc), if there is a trellis frame (yes, but for how long…?), what Desmo means, what it has in electronics, etc. Let's clarify this right away: 4.3-inch TFT screen, traction control, IMU, ABS cornering, wheelie control, 3 Riding Modes, LED lights + DRL signature, up & down shifter and anti-stoppie system.
A whole range that it shares with the standard model. Ultimately, the S version is there to make the sport-GT profile that this machine has made discover more enjoyable. Since the 939 SuperSport S, the 950 has only slightly increased its price. Which does not mean that the latter is low.
