Overview
The 800 Scrambler Icon finds a much darker, more customizable, and less expensive version, the Dark. This is one of the intrinsic particularities of this designation at Ducati: motorcycles stripped of all traces of paint to secure the tightest price in its family.
This was the case for many machines, and in all categories. The Icon had been convinced by the rite, although it denotes on a machine with a soul full of colors. Two years of Dark then a ciao in 2021. A pause more than a farewell. The black is back in the Next-Gen series, with the same will.
The most accessible roadster from Bologna therefore pledges allegiance to a black suit. Apart from the symbols on the belt covers and reflectors, it’s all night and matte. Or more simply, ride without worrying about appearance and just enjoy this fun motorcycle. Underneath, the old Desmodue air-cooled with two bowls, the iconic Desmodromic distribution, 73 horsepower, and underlying electronics. Two Riding Modes, traction control, cornering ABS, a striking daytime visual signature, a USB socket under the seat. And on the options side, a quickshifter and multimedia equipment to interface with the smartphone are rumored.
Others will be more sensitive to the bodily arguments of the Scrambler, such as the steel trellis frame, Brembo radial braking, the 41 mm Kayaba inverted fork, or the Pirelli MT 60 RS mixed tires. But whether it is in the shadow or the light, the Ducati troublemaker remains the same: a motorcycle with a mischievous smile.
