Overview
How do you celebrate a legendary rider without falling into the trap of a simple sticker? Ducati found the answer with this Panigale V2 Bayliss, a tribute that is as mechanical as it is graphic. This is not a simple aesthetic variation, but an enriched motorcycle, where high-end equipment and a few technical subtleties justify the extra cost. The number 21, the red and white recall the 996 F01 that allowed Troy Bayliss to conquer his first world title in 2001, but the spirit is that of a modern sportbike, ready to perform on all terrains.

The heart remains this 955 cm3 Superquadro, a L-twin that never lacks character. With 155 horsepower at 10750 rpm and a torque of 104 Nm, it offers a liveliness that sits right between the Panigale V4, too demanding, and the sometimes too linear Japanese superbikes. It is this recipe, this mixture of brutality and control, that makes the charm of Ducati. The electronics are omnipresent, with Cornering ABS, three riding modes and an adjustable traction control, making this power accessible without diluting it. The Up&Down shifter transmission completes the picture for gear changes without interruption of propulsion.
What really distinguishes this edition, however, is its suspension equipment. The 43 mm Öhlins NIX30 fork and the lateral TTX36 shock are not living room options. They bring a more precise feel, an additional rigor that transforms the motorcycle on a circuit without making it inhospitable on the road. The weight has been slightly reduced, thanks to a lithium-ion battery and the absence of passenger equipment, to reach 197 kg fully fueled. The self-bleeding master cylinders, carbon/titanium exhaust outlets, and small details like the bi-material stitched saddle are the signatures of a replica designed for enthusiasts.
At 21490 euros, it is clearly positioned as a collector's item for lovers of the brand and its history. Compared to a standard Panigale V2, the additional price is justified by the Öhlins and the finishes, but it remains a significant investment. It is a motorcycle for those seeking a sportbike capable of everything, with a unique emotional pedigree, and who accepts the sometimes demanding character of the Ducati L-twin. It does not rival the brute power of a V4, but it offers a more intimate, more tactile experience, where every element seems to speak of past races and glory. A tribute that, ultimately, is as much admired as it is ridden.
