Overview
Imagine a motorcycle that doesn’t ask you if you’re ready, but tells you so with color. Literally. In 2010, Benelli decided to push its already somewhat uncomfortable Tornado Naked Tre to its limits with this Sport Evo version. This isn’t about a simple makeover, but a declaration of war against roadster conventions. The frame and swingarm, coated in a vibrant red that screams anger, leave no doubt about its intentions.

Under the 17-liter fuel tank rumbles the famous 1131 cm³ inline three-cylinder engine, a block that didn’t really need more character. With its 137 horsepower at 9500 rpm and 110 Nm of torque, the beast already had a voice. The major change lies in the electronics, with two maps to choose from. One for progressive power delivery, the other for a frank and direct surge. It’s the mechanical equivalent of choosing between an uppercut or a series of hooks: the final result is the same, only the method differs.
But where the Tornado Naked Tre 1130 Sport Evo really scores points is in its rediscovered agility. The announced weight, 215 kg fully fueled, remains imposing, but the factory hunted down superfluous kilos. The forged OZ rims, inherited from the sporty Tornado RS, significantly reduce unsprung mass. Coupled with a 50 mm Marzocchi fork fully adjustable and a similarly configurable monoshock, they transform the riding experience. The motorcycle becomes more precise, more reactive, ready to lean into corners. The radial Brembo braking system, with its single disc at the front, offers power and a feeling of control worthy of the performance.
Who is it for? Not a beginner, that’s obvious. This roadster is the ideal companion of the experienced rider looking for a raw sensation, a marked personality, and a style that doesn’t go unnoticed. At nearly 15,000 euros at the time, it faced competitors like the Triumph Speed Triple or the MV Agusta Brutale, often more accomplished and refined. The Benelli defended itself with its unique temperament, its imperfect and exciting side, its roaring engine, and its brawler look.
Ultimately, the Tornado Naked Tre 1130 Sport Evo is not the easiest, nor the most versatile motorcycle. It’s heavy, its engine can be demanding, and it readily admits its origins. But that’s precisely what makes its charm. It’s a thrill-seeking machine, a roadster with an explosive character that reminds you with every acceleration that you’re riding something special, a little raw, and terribly lively. A motorcycle that doesn’t just get ridden, but is lived, and sometimes, tamed.
