Overview
One hundred years. Quite a longevity for a motorcycle brand, especially considering the ups and downs in Benelli’s history. From the Pesaro workshop to the Tourist Trophy podium, from the legendary 750 Sei to the wild Tornado and TnT models, the journey has been chaotic. In 2011, to celebrate this century, the Italian firm didn't release a museum piece, but dressed its most brutal naked bike for the occasion. The Century Racer is first and foremost a TnT 1130 that has donned its finest attire for the party. But behind the "100 Anniversary" screen printing and the vintage logo, does it hide an exceptional motorcycle or simply a clever paint job?

Let's be frank, the technical specs are not revolutionary. The large 1131 cm³ inline three-cylinder engine is well known, with its rugged 137 horsepower and 110 Nm of torque that arrives with a frank determination around 7750 rpm. It's a lively, somewhat rustic engine that prefers ruggedness to excessive polish. The trellis aluminum frame and inverted fork set the tone: it's built on a serious base, designed for thrills. The 215 kg fully fueled doesn’t make it light, but once in motion, this mass is forgotten, carried by a generous engine. Radial Brembo braking, Alcantara saddle, and reworked mapping are welcome improvements, but they apply to the entire TnT range of the time, not just this limited edition. The real "plus" is therefore aesthetic: a special livery, a pronounced café racer spirit expressed by a posture and details that catch the eye.
Facing the competition, the positioning is clear. Alongside a Triumph Speed Triple of the time, more accomplished and refined, or an MV Agusta Brutale, more exotic and technical, Benelli plays the card of raw authenticity. It doesn't seek absolute refinement, but direct engagement. It's a motorcycle for those who seek character above all else, who accept a few imperfections in exchange for a marked personality. A 16-liter fuel tank and a 780 mm seat height make it a usable everyday machine, but its fiery temperament mainly destines it for connoisseurs, those who know how to tame a demanding engine.
So, what is this Century Racer worth? It's a beautiful object, a collector's piece for the brand. It summarizes the Benelli spirit of the early 2010s: bold, distinctive, with a hint of defiance. But at 15,000 euros new, the price was high for what remained, at the end of the day, a special series rather than a technical revolution. It will seduce the hot-blooded traveler who wants a naked bike with a history, a fiery temperament, and a unique look. For others, a standard TnT will do just as well, without the exclusivity premium. A centenary celebrated with panache, therefore, but without changing the game.
