Overview

Aprilia has never claimed to make motorcycles for everyone. Noale manufactures machines of desire, not utilitarian road tools. The Tuono 660 Factory 2024 embodies this philosophy to the last comma, offering a concentrated dose of mid-size technology for €10,999, a reasonable price for what the mechanics and electronics truly offer.

Aprilia Tuono 660 Factory

This 659 cc parallel-twin, with a generous compression ratio of 13.5:1 and square dimensions of 81 x 63.9 mm, delivers 100 horsepower at 10,500 rpm and 67 Nm of torque at 8,500 rpm. Figures that speak for themselves against a wet weight of 181 kg. To put it in perspective: the Yamaha MT-07 weighs 189 kg, the Honda CB650R weighs 202 kg. The Factory plays in a different league, where the power-to-weight ratio becomes a selling point in its own right. These horsepower figures need some explanation: the twin was deliberately detuned when the RS 660 sportbike transitioned to the roadster, to open the door to A2 license holders. The Factory simply reclaims what is rightfully its, and further accelerates the equation by adopting a 16-tooth gearbox output sprocket against 17 on the base version. The same displacement, a different temperament.

The most striking distinction of this Aprilia Tuono 660 Factory test lies primarily in its chassis equipment. The fully adjustable front and rear suspension, signed by Kayaba and Sachs respectively, transform the machine into a tool adjustable to the rider and the terrain. Öhlins is reserved for the RSV4 and Tuono 1100 Factory, it’s a budgetary reality accepted, and the result remains convincing. The 41 mm inverted fork works on 110 mm of travel, the mono on 130 mm. On the Aprilia Tuono 660 Factory technical specifications, this package places the motorcycle above the Z650 RS or the Triumph Trident 660, which settle for basic, non-adjustable suspension at this price.

Electronics constitute the sledgehammer argument of the Factory compared to the standard Tuono. The IMU inertial platform allows ABS to intervene in corners, a technology still rare at this price point. Adaptive cornering lights follow the same logic. Five riding modes are available, three for the road and two track-oriented, managed via the APRC pack which centralizes traction control, engine braking management, cruise control and anti-wheelie. The up & down bidirectional quickshifter is standard equipment, consistent with the beast's sporty DNA. For the A2 license candidate, useful precision: the Factory is legally bridgable, even if its unbridled character rather encourages waiting for the A license.

Aprilia Tuono 660 Factory

The only real criticism that can be leveled at this Aprilia Tuono 660 Factory 2024 concerns its fairing. Matte black dominates, accented by a few discreet red touches. It’s elegant, but restrained, almost anonymous for a machine of this temperament. The standard Tuono benefits from much more expressive colors, which creates a visual paradox: the most accomplished version is also the most understated. The seat back provides a more compact silhouette, and the passenger seat remains a separate option. Nothing critical, but the Italian competition sometimes knows how to dress its sportbikes better. Used Aprilia Tuono 660 Factory models are already on the market for those who want to test the formula at a lower cost, the first model years having proven their reliability since 2022. At €10,999 new, it is a machine designed for the rider who wants to progress quickly, without compromise on the quality of the tools at their disposal.
