Aprilia doesn’t do things by halves. Noale builds machines for those who know why they’re straddling a motorcycle, not for those who are still hesitating between two wheels and four. When the range offers a Factory version, it’s a clear signal: we push the cursor, we refine what can be refined, we embrace a sporting ambition without seeking unnecessary compromises.

The Aprilia Tuono 660 Factory starts from a simple observation: the 659 cc twin-cylinder engine of the standard version had been deliberately restricted to open the door to A2 licenses. The Factory recovers these stifled horsepower and displays 100 hp at 10,500 rpm, with 67 Nm of torque at 8,500 rpm. The transmission shortens by a gear via a 16-tooth drive pinion, which densifies the acceleration and hardens the overall character. The lithium battery removes two kilos from the scale, for a fully fueled weight of 181 kg, which is the size of a small displacement engine disguised as a serious sportbike. Faced with a Yamaha MT-07 or a KTM Duke 790, this power-to-weight ratio speaks for itself.
What truly distinguishes the 2023 Aprilia Tuono 660 Factory from its standard cousin is the care given to the suspension. The 41 mm inverted Kayaba fork receives full adjustment for preload, compression, and rebound. The Sachs rear shock follows the same logic. Aprilia has abandoned Öhlins, reserved for the RSV4 and Tuono 1100 Factory, to keep the price at 10,999 euros. This is a respectable choice: the Kayaba/Sachs equipment remains consistent with the positioning, and it is more than enough to exploit the 220 km/h announced as the maximum speed on the track.
The onboard electronics place this machine in a category of its own for its displacement. Five riding modes, traction control, engine braking management, cruise control, anti-wheeling, bidirectional quickshifter as standard. The addition of the IMU inertial sensor brings cornering ABS and adaptive turn signals, two rare technologies at this price level. For an Aprilia Tuono 660 Factory test, this electronic package constitutes one of the strongest arguments against the competition, especially for those who want to progress on the track without sacrificing active safety on the road. The motorcycle is primarily aimed at already trained riders, curious to push their limits, rather than beginners looking for a first, more tolerant machine.

The only criticism that can be formulated without beating around the bush concerns the aesthetics. The dominant black, embellished with a few red touches, is restrained where the standard version dares to use frankly more engaging colors. For a Factory, supposedly more accomplished version, we expected a visual character to match. Gold rims, a more daring graphic treatment: none of that. The passenger seat is even sold separately, a minor detail but symptomatic of a resolutely single-rider positioning. On this specific point, common sense has taken precedence over the desire to impress.
