Overview
Winning a race isn't always enough to convince the market, but it helps. The victory at the Africa Eco Race gave Aprilia a legitimacy that no one can dispute in the field, and it is precisely on this foundation that the Noale brand built the 2025 Aprilia Tuareg 660 Rally. Not a simple cosmetic variant, but a machine that fully embraces its off-road ambitions, with all the compromises and radical choices that entails.

Visually, the message is clear at first glance. A massive reinforced engine guard, raised front fender, golden spoked wheels that complement the 43 mm inverted fork, an SC Project titanium exhaust that cuts through the ensemble, colors directly inspired by competition liveries: the Aprilia Tuareg 660 Rally leaves no ambiguity about its intentions. The seat rises 20 mm compared to the standard version, reaching 913 mm, and the raised handlebar naturally encourages a standing position in chaotic sections. The 5-inch screen, positioned horizontally, does the job but doesn't yet follow the roadbook logic adopted by the Yamaha Ténéré 700 or the Kove 800 X. A detail, certainly, but one that stands out at this price point.
The 659 cc parallel twin, with a 270-degree firing order derived from the RS 660, receives enlarged 52 mm throttle bodies to preserve its 80 horsepower at 9,250 rpm in line with Euro 5+ requirements. Peak torque of 70.6 Nm arrives at 6,500 rpm. These figures belong to a sport bike converted for sandy tracks, with a reworked mapping to deliver crisp throttle response. The electronic package is comprehensive: traction control, engine braking management, four riding modes including two customizable ones and an off-road mode, cruise control, ABS that can be disconnected at the rear or on both wheels. Aprilia doesn't cut corners on equipment. The Kayaba suspension retains 240 mm of travel, but drops the progressive springs of the standard model. The Rally is more direct, less filtering, more physically demanding at speed over rough terrain. The wheels switch to inner tubes, consistent with the intended use. All of this for a wet weight of 199 kg, 4 kg less than the base version, a saving achieved primarily through the exhaust and rims.

The Aprilia Tuareg 660 Rally's price is its main sticking point. At €13,999, the question hits head-on. The Yamaha Ténéré 700, the segment's absolute benchmark, is listed between €11,199 and €12,399 in its Rally trim. The gap is real. And that's not all: pricing pressure from China was already redrawing market boundaries, with the CF Moto 800 MT-X at €9,999 — built on a KTM platform — making a compelling case. For the 2025 Aprilia Tuareg 660 Rally, the 659 cc displacement also works against it with customers accustomed to reading 700, 800, or 1,000 cc as signals of seriousness.

Yet reducing this machine to its limitations alone would be unfair. For a rider seeking a do-it-all capable of swallowing forest tracks in the morning and cruising up a mountain pass in the afternoon, the 199 kg fully fueled is an argument that the Germanic heavyweights simply cannot match. Feedback from committed riders confirms it: the relative lightness genuinely changes the game the moment tarmac disappears. This is an enthusiast's motorcycle, built for those who know what they're looking for and are willing to pay the price of Italian exclusivity. The mainstream adventure trail crowd, however, will probably continue to look elsewhere.
