Overview
When a Chinese manufacturer decides to go from 310 to 348 cc, you might shrug it off. A few extra cubic centimeters, a marketing line, and that's that. Except that this gain places the Zontes 350 T in an interesting firing zone: at 39.4 horsepower delivered at 9,500 rpm, it stares down the BMW 310 GS and its 34 horsepower in the rearview mirror, while staying below the KTM 390 Adventure and its 44 hp. A calculated, almost surgical positioning that lends it new credibility in the A2 adventure segment.

Visually, Zontes avoided the copy-paste trap. The adventure bike is a genre codified to the bone, with its high-mounted beaks and its air of wanting to cross Mongolia. Here, the design team clearly had free rein. The light signature forms a continuous band across the fork head, separating the windscreen from the bodywork with a crispness you rarely see in this price range. The exhaust, meanwhile, recalls the slim twin outlets of an MV Agusta, where competitors bulk up their silencers to compensate for other shortcomings. The rear stays clean, the swingarm draws a neat line, and the whole package gives the machine a stylistic coherence that is rare at €5,690. At that price, with crash bars, handguards, luggage rack, and electrically adjustable windscreen in two positions, the standard equipment would make many established brands blush. The TFT screen even displays real-time tire pressure — a luxury rarely encountered in this price bracket.
The 348 cc single-cylinder develops 33.3 Nm of torque at 7,500 rpm and pairs with a 6-speed gearbox that smooths its transitions. The slipper clutch manages engine braking under deceleration, while two riding modes (eco and sport) allow the character to be adjusted according to mood. The claimed consumption of 3.7 l/100 km combined with the 19-liter tank hints at a range approaching 500 km, making it a serious touring companion for an A2 licence holder.

The problem lies on the scales. 196 kg fully fueled is heavy. Very heavy. The KTM 390 Adventure weighs around 30 kg less, as does the BMW 310 GS. For a beginner discovering adventure riding, or for a smaller rider facing an 830 mm seat height, the first parking maneuver could quickly turn into an arm wrestle. It is a structural flaw that the Chinese industry struggles to correct, and the Zontes is no exception. The steel tubular frame doesn't help, even if the suspension — a 43 mm inverted fork up front and a nitrogen rear monoshock — offers 175 mm of travel. The J.Juan braking system with a 4-piston radial caliper on a 320 mm disc is honest, and the Bosch ABS managed independently on each wheel inspires confidence.

For a young licence holder who wants to travel without mortgaging their bank account, the 350 T ticks almost every box. The equipment is generous, the finish appears careful, and the style stands out from the crowd. What remains is accepting the weight and betting on an after-sales network still under construction. That is the Zontes deal, and at €5,690, plenty of people will be ready to sign it.
