Overview
So here it is, the myth is still here, and it’s even dressing up for the party. Yamaha is launching a TMAX 560 in a special series to celebrate 25 years of undisputed reign in the maxi-scooter market. We’re talking about a machine that, as early as 2001, revolutionized the codes by injecting a true motorcycle temperament into a scooter format. The result? More than 340,000 units sold in Europe and a dynasty, the MAX range, which today represents the vast majority of the brand's scooter sales. This 2026 anniversary edition, available for one year only, is a tribute, but not a technical revolution. It is based on the current generation, with its well-known strengths and limitations.

The commemorative finish is meticulous, almost discreet for a jubilee. The "Deep Armar" livery, a dark matte gray, is enhanced by light gray boomerangs, a nod to the 2006 Black MAX edition. The details do the work: black rims with machined edges, anodized engine cover, and these small 3D red chrome TMAX emblems that play like collector's items. The most striking touch, and probably the most appreciated, is this double-stitched red seat. It gives a youthful touch, almost a café racer character, to a vehicle often perceived as very technological. It’s far from flashy festivities; it's a reminder of identity more than a firework display.
Because beneath the finish, the heart still beats at 562 cm³. The inline twin-cylinder engine, faithful to Euro 5+ standards, delivers its 47.6 horsepower at 7500 rpm and 55 Nm of torque at 5250 rpm. Figures that, on paper, seem modest, but which on the road translate into formidable efficiency. This power, indeed, makes the machine accessible with an A2 license, a massive argument for young motorcyclists seeking performance without the constraints of a traditional motorcycle. The aluminum frame, the 41 mm inverted fork, and the Sumitomo radial braking system ensure sporty and safe handling, well served by the Yamaha braking control system. At 219 kg fully fueled, it remains a significant weight, but the mass is well placed and the scooter maneuvers with disconcerting agility for its size.

The competition? It exists, but struggles to rival on this hybrid terrain. Faced with a BMW C 400 GT or a Honda Forza 750, the TMAX asserts its sporting authority and technological refinement. The 7-inch TFT screen, the MyRide app, and the integrated free Garmin Motorize navigation constitute a very complete connected package. The Smart Key system, which manages the ignition, the seat, and the tank, completes the impeccable daily life experience. At €13,999, this is a price that is justified by this high-end position, but which clearly places this TMAX in an almost luxurious niche.

Ultimately, this anniversary edition is for the enthusiast, the collector, or those who want a maxi-scooter with a little extra history. It changes nothing about the essence of the TMAX: a machine for the urban globetrotter who refuses monotony, for the professional who wants to cover kilometers without fatigue, and for all those who believe that the practicality of a scooter can be combined with the pleasure of a motorcycle. Yamaha isn't reinventing anything here; it's simply celebrating a machine that, for 25 years, has never really been dethroned.
