Overview
With this 70th-anniversary edition, the R7 looks remarkably like the…YZF-R7! No cheesy wordplay, but a necessary precision: it resembles the YZF-R7! A motorcycle that reminded us of its presence throughout 2025 as Yamaha paid tribute to it in the most important competitions of the season.
Race bikes served as the backdrop for Yamaha’s 70th-anniversary celebrations; now it’s the turn of the production bikes. The entire R sport range is adopting the Superbike look. The new R7 swells with pride in this superb white and red livery, adorned with the famous Speedblocks on the fairing flanks. The fuel cap receives a “70th anniversary” commemorative badge, as well as a gold version of the Yamaha badge.
Proud, but it must remain humble. Almost 30 years separate them, and their designs have nothing to do with each other. The 750 YZF-R7 OW02 won victories in Endurance and World Superbike – the 700 R7 is here to introduce you to racing lines and establish your first lap times. Only their first name, the way it’s written, the choice of colors, and their gaze for the track identify them with the same lineage. Facing each other, they seem both so close and so different.
The R7 enters 2026 presenting its tributes to its ancestor while modifying its attributes. Because let's remember that the Yam’ has evolved from end to end this year: more stylized look, redesigned fairing, engine recalibrated for Euro5+, reinforced frame, SpinForged lightweight wheels, optimized fork, less demanding riding position, and electronics of a whole other level. The previous generation only had ABS as standard and a quickshifter as an option. Now, the Up&Down quickshifter is standard equipment, as is an IMU inertial unit, 5 Riding Modes, traction control, and angle-sensitive ABS, wheelie control, slide control, and braking control, engine braking management, a cruise control and speed limiter, rear ABS deactivation, and a launch control assistant. That's almost the electronics of a hypersport for a 73-horsepower bike…
You’re going to have to count an extra 300 euros for the “Anniversary White” color scheme. For a final addition under 11,000 euros. Which is already muscular for an “entry-level” sportbike.
