Overview
Does a motorcycle have memory, a soul that goes beyond its simple technical specifications? With this Trident 660 Triple Tribute Edition, Triumph is playing a bold card: that of emotional heritage. We are far from a simple color variation. The British manufacturer draws from its most glorious archives, those of the legendary “Slippery Sam,” this Trident 750 that reigned supreme at the Tourist Trophy in the early 1970s. The number 67, proudly displayed, is not just a sticker; it's a totem. The decoration, a subtle Union Jack that seems to dissolve into the paint, is a remarkable stylistic exercise. It dresses with grace a roadster with an already accomplished design, with lines that are both rounded and taut, which avoids the pitfall of excessive gentleness.

But Triumph doesn't just indulge in eye-catching nostalgia. The real stroke of genius is the package. For the same price as the standard version, that is €8695, you get an up and down quickshifter, a custom windscreen, and a solid aluminum engine guard. A material bonus estimated at €900 by the manufacturer, a generous approach that recalls the era when special series had substance, not just paint. The only downside in this idyllic picture is the Triumph Bluetooth module, which allows you to connect your smartphone for navigation and calls, remains a paid option. A detail, but on a machine that aims to be complete, it stings a little.
Because beyond the tribute, there is a motorcycle, and what a motorcycle! The Trident 660 stands out in the very competitive segment of mid-size roadsters with its three-cylinder engine. A unique character compared to the plethora of parallel-twin engines. Its 81 horsepower at 10250 rpm and its torque of 64.7 Nm available relatively early offer a flexibility and a sound that make all the difference. The power is accessible, perfectly dosed not to frighten the novice while still entertaining the confirmed road rider. With its 189 kg fully fueled, its agile steel frame and its 41mm Showa inverted fork, it is of exemplary liveliness in the city as on winding roads. The rich-for-the-category electronics offer two riding modes, traction control, and ABS, as standard.
This Tribute Edition is therefore much more than just a makeover. It is proof that you can combine powerful storytelling with real technical added value, without overcharging. It is aimed at the rider who is looking for a first "real" motorcycle with character, or at the one who wants a refined everyday roadster, without compromise on riding pleasure. Faced with a more raw Yamaha MT-07 or a more "hot" Honda CB650R, the Trident 660 plays the card of elegance, versatility, and that particular sound. A limited edition that, for once, makes sense.
