Overview

Can a motorcycle be both a tribute and a statement of intent? With this Street Triple 765 Moto2 Edition, Triumph answers yes, and in a significant way. This is no longer a simple badge-engineered version, but a very serious reinterpretation of the sporty roadster recipe, directly inspired by experience in the world championship. The result borders on a disguised track weapon.

Triumph Street Triple 765 Moto2 Edition

At the heart of the matter is the 765 cc three-cylinder engine with 130 horsepower, an engine whose character can never be praised enough. It is both fast and meaty, with 80.4 Nm of torque that arrives without brutality but with relentless determination. It is an engine that does not simply scream towards its limit, it accompanies you, carries you, and makes every acceleration an event. Compared to an already excellent RS, the difference is not in this, but in everything around it.

Because Triumph decided to switch to "track attack" mode on the chassis. The shortened wheelbase, the rake reduced to 95.3 mm and a steeper rake of 23° radically transform the geometry. The advertised weight of 188 kg fully fueled becomes a significant argument. The motorcycle leans with disconcerting spontaneity, almost a thought. It has an incisiveness that recalls the supersportives of yesteryear, but with the stability and comfort of a modern roadster. The Öhlins equipment is up to this ambition: the NIX30 fork and the STX40 shock absorber offer fine adjustment and handling of surgical precision, supported by Pirelli Supercorsa SP V3 tires that seem to stick magically.

Triumph Street Triple 765 Moto2 Edition

The riding position confirms this radical orientation. The low and forward-set clip-on handlebars and the raised seat at 839 mm install you in an engaged position, close to that of a café-racer or a naked sportbike. It is clearly a choice for the rider seeking pure sensation, at the expense of city comfort. The electronics, inherited from the RS, remain plentiful and effective, with its lean-sensitive ABS, adjustable traction control, and five modes. Brembo Stylema brakes offer impeccable power and feel.

Triumph Street Triple 765 Moto2 Edition

So, who is this machine for? Certainly not for a beginner, nor for those seeking a versatile and comfortable roadster. At €15,395, it positions itself in a very niche segment, facing competitors such as the Ducati Streetfighter V2 or the MV Agusta Brutale 800 RR. It opposes them a more "purist" character, more mechanical and directly inspired by competition. It is the motorcycle of the informed enthusiast who dreamed of a Daytona without fairings, or the Sunday track rider who wants an ultra-evolved base for the road. Triumph has not cut corners, and that is what is expected. This limited edition is an adrenaline shot on two wheels, an affirmation that the pleasure of riding comes above all else.
