Overview

Many people drooled over the 2023 Street Triple Moto2 edition. A true naked sportbike. Better yet, a Daytonawithout fairings. Produced in a run of 2 x 765 units at the time, it left a lasting impression at Triumph.

To such an extent that a new batch is being offered for 2026. This time, in a run of 1000 units. A single color scheme will be available, featuring shades of gray with hints of lemon to excite the eye. Like today, the roadster is just as hungry for performance and clearly aims for the track.

It’s not without reason that it’s called Moto2. Triumph has been heavily involved in the category (with its engine) since 2019. A choice engine for this powerhouse, sharing the same DNA as the RS: a three-cylinder with strong mid-range performance and a beautiful 130 horsepower. Torque is also well-represented, with 8.2 mkg. Generally speaking, this engine is a delight, as thrilling as it is effective.

The Street Triple Moto2 Edition will allow its rider to push their riding even further. The chassis is the most responsive in the family, with a shorter wheelbase, a more closed steering head angle (at 23° only) and a rake reduced to 95.3 mm. This announces significant agility, further enhanced by the featherweight of 188 kg. But Triumph’s mid-size streetfighter goes even further by adopting an Öhlins NIX 30 inverted fork, fully adjustable. As it also features the Öhlins (also) STX 40 rear shock absorber from its RS sister, it boasts being completely suspended by high-end components. The tire fitment is planned in the same direction, with Pirelli Supercorsa SP V3 tires glued to the pavement.

When I say streetfighter... café-racer would be more accurate. To perfect its vitality, the Street modifies the riding position by equipping itself with low-rise handlebars, 80 mm lower and 50 mm further forward. As the seat is also slightly higher, at 839 mm, the body leans into the attack without any other concern than to trace lines and jubilation.

In addition to its equipment, the English bike is enriched with carbon fiber parts (headlight fairing, engine guard, front mudguard and side scoops), a specific dashboard animation, a seat cover, and a superb machined and open steering stem. The symbols of its identity and its number in the limited series are engraved on them.

In addition to its specific features, the Street Triple Moto2 also benefits from its RS base, with Brembo Stylema brake calipers and state-of-the-art electronics (5 Riding Modes, cornering ABS, angle-sensitive traction control and disengageable, 5-inch TFT color display, lap timing system, Up&Down shifter, anti-wheeling, full LED lighting, daytime running light signature, pre-equipment for connectivity, USB port under the seat).

This is therefore not a new model but a re-edition. Which does nothing to diminish its formidable potential and the desire it can inspire. We would still have appreciated a few small touches to mark the occasion. At least more than a revamped paint scheme. The 2026 "Moto 2" also retains the same Pirelli Diablo Supercorsa V3 SP tires as the 2023 edition. A superb tire, needless to say. But Triumph could have made the gesture of fitting the V4 to give a bit of "update" in this model year. The price has increased slightly, but in almost the same proportions as inflation.
