Overview

What drives Triumph to dig through its archive drawers to dress up a motorcycle that, fundamentally, hasn't changed since 2017? The answer lies in a logo. The one the brand wore between 1907 and 1914, in the earliest hours of the Coventry adventure, resurfaces on the tank of this 2025 Bonneville T100 Icon Edition. A golden badge, set against a grey and black livery with hand-painted pinstripes. The gesture is calculated, almost museum-like, but it works. You look at this special edition the way you'd look at a mechanical watch in a jeweler's display case: you know the movement inside isn't revolutionary, but the case tells a story that transcends the object.

Triumph 900 Bonneville T 100 Icon Edition

Beneath this polished dress, the mechanicals remain what we already know. The 900 cc parallel twin, with a 270-degree firing order, delivers 65 hp at 7,400 rpm and, more importantly, 80 Nm of torque from just 3,750 rpm. It's that last figure that defines the machine's character. The twin doesn't climb through the revs with fury — it pushes with smoothness, like a steady wave that never truly fades between 2,000 and 6,000 rpm. The five-speed gearbox is enough for this temperament. Six speeds would be an unnecessary luxury when the engine does all the work in the midrange. Against the Kawasaki W800 and its somewhat drowsy 52 hp, the Triumph holds a clear advantage in liveliness. Against the Royal Enfield Continental GT 650, cheaper but also less refined, it plays the prestige card along with better-calibrated fuel injection.

The T100 has never claimed to be a sportbike. Its steel single-cradle frame, 41 mm telescopic fork, and twin rear shocks with 120 mm of travel each make up a chassis designed for leisurely rides and urban commuting, not for attacking tight sequences of corners. The 228 kg wet weight makes itself known during low-speed maneuvers and brisk roundabouts. The braking, handled by a single 310 mm front disc with a two-piston caliper, gets the job done without excessive bite. It's honest, not remarkable. The 790 mm seat height accommodates most body types without difficulty, and the 14.5-liter tank offers decent range for daily use. You won't cross the Massif Central without planning a fuel stop, but for a round trip between the office and the countryside, it's sufficient.

What sets the Icon edition apart from the standard T100 is primarily its cosmetics and its limited-time positioning. Triumph loves these series that are limited in time, not in numbers. After the Gold Line, Chrome, and Stealth variants, the Icon follows the same recipe: exclusive decoration, a price premium of roughly 600 euros, and availability restricted to a single year. At 12,195 euros, it sits well below the Bonneville T120 and its 1,200 cc, which demands around 3,000 euros more. Less power, less equipment, but an entry ticket into the Bonneville family that remains reasonable — and A2 license-compatible with a restrictor kit.

The Triumph Bonneville T100 Icon is aimed at those who want to ride neo-retro without giving up modern reliability. Fuel injection, ride-by-wire, traction control, Euro 5+ compliance — it's all there, hidden behind round analog gauges and spoked wheels. It doesn't claim to deliver track-day thrills or devour highway miles with its 160 km/h top speed. It offers something else: a twin that sings true, a design that ages well, and a century-old crest on the side of the tank. For an urban rider or a weekend cruiser looking for style without fuss, it's a solid choice. Not flashy. Solid.
