Overview

When Hollywood decides to point its cameras at two wheels, the result swings between a stroke of genius and a marketing gimmick. With this "Birds of Prey" Street Triple RS, Triumph USA chose to play the cinema card by dressing its roadster in Harley Quinn's colors — the Joker's unhinged sidekick. A one-of-a-kind edition, created in 2020 to coincide with the film's release, turning the sharpest of English triple-cylinders into a piece of motorized pop culture.

Triumph 765 Street Triple RS Harley Quinn

Beneath this flashy livery of multicolored diamonds, however, lies an engine that's anything but a movie prop. The 765 cc triple, with its 12.54:1 compression ratio and four valves per cylinder, pumps out 123 horsepower at 11,750 rpm and delivers 79.4 Nm of torque at 10,800 rpm. It's the same unit as the standard RS, the one that's been giving the Yamaha MT-09 SP and KTM 890 Duke R sleepless nights since its overhaul. The 78 mm bore paired with a 53.4 mm stroke betrays a decidedly high-revving character — an engine that demands revs to deliver its full potential. At 166 kg dry, propelled by this angry trio of cylinders, the package promises ferocious acceleration and a top speed of 235 km/h. The six-speed gearbox connects to the rear wheel via a chain drive — no surprises, but thoroughly effective.

The perimeter aluminum frame remains one of the Street Triple's strongest arguments against the competition. The 41 mm inverted fork offers 115 mm of travel up front, while the Öhlins STX40 mono-shock handles 131 mm of rear wheel travel. Serious kit, precisely calibrated hardware that places this RS a notch above the sporty roadsters in the segment. Brembo brakes complete the picture with twin 310 mm discs gripped by four-piston radial calipers at the front and a 220 mm disc at the rear. Fitted with 120/70-17 and 180/55-17 tires, a seat height of 840 mm, and fueled by a 17-liter tank, this Street Triple remains a machine built for the demanding rider who wants as much fun on twisty roads as on track.

Now, let's talk about the decoration. The candy-colored diamonds covering the tank and fairings are divisive. Some will see a bold tribute to the DC Comics universe; others, a fairground paint job on a sportbike that deserved better. The fact is that Triumph dared, and this edition exists as a single unit, offered as a prize in a contest run through the brand's American dealer network. The connection to the film lies in a Street Triple appearing in the action scenes, ridden by Huntress, one of Quinn's allies. A product placement that justified this collaboration between Hinckley and Warner Bros.

Motorcycles and cinema — it's a long-standing marriage. From Steve McQueen's Triumph TR6 in "The Great Escape" to Schwarzenegger's Fat Boy in "Terminator 2," by way of the Kawasaki GPZ 900 in "Top Gun" or the Ducati 916 in "Matrix Reloaded," two wheels have always managed to steal the spotlight from the actors. This Street Triple RS Harley Quinn carries on that tradition with flair, even if it will ultimately remain a collector's curiosity rather than a milestone in sporty roadster history. The mechanical foundation, for its part, needs no costume to convince.
