Overview

Who hasn't spent hours leafing through an accessories catalog after buying a roadster, dreaming of slimmer mirrors, discreet turn signals, and an exhaust system that wakes up the whole neighborhood? Suzuki knows this affliction well and decided to get ahead of it with the GSR 750 Street Edition, model year 2014. Rather than letting customers drain their bank accounts at the local aftermarket shop, the Hamamatsu firm delivers the machine already dressed up, partnering with Rizoma, the Italian benchmark in high-end machined parts.

Suzuki GSR 750 Street Edition

The foundation remains that of the standard GSR 750, and that's no criticism. The 749 cc inline four-cylinder develops 106 horsepower at 10,000 rpm with 79.4 Nm of torque peaking at 9,000 rpm. Nothing stratospheric on paper compared to a Kawasaki Z800 or a Yamaha MT-09, but the GSX-R-derived engine has real character. It pulls cleanly from the midrange, happily climbs through the revs without complaint, and delivers that mechanical pleasure unique to well-bred four-cylinders. All of this housed in a steel perimeter frame, suspended by a 43 mm inverted fork and a mono-shock, tipping the scales at 211 kg wet. The seat, perched at 815 mm, remains accessible to most rider heights, and the 17.5-liter tank provides decent range between fuel stops.

What sets this Street Edition apart is the cosmetic work signed by Rizoma. Sport Line grips, minimal-format LED turn signals, Limit Naked mirrors with a clean design, redesigned footpegs, machined oil filler cap, swingarm spools, and bar-end weights: every detail has been thought out to refine the roadster's stocky silhouette. Taken individually, each of these parts costs a fair sum from the catalog. Grouped together on a special edition, they form a cohesive package that weekend garage tinkering often struggles to achieve. The crowning touch is the Yoshimura R11 exhaust system, which transforms the four-cylinder's acoustic signature and gives it that raw growl the stock muffler so dutifully suppressed.

Then there's the matter of price. At 8,699 euros, the Street Edition commands a noticeable premium over the base model. The math can be justified if you add up the catalog price of each Rizoma component and the Yoshimura exhaust, but let's be honest: you're also paying for the image and the convenience of riding out of the dealership with a machine ready to roll, no screwdrivers or adapters to fit yourself. Against the competition, the Z800 offers more raw power, while the MT-09 plays the torque and lightweight card with its triple. The Suzuki responds with remarkably smooth mechanicals and a sound chassis — less playful than the Yamaha but more reassuring through fast-paced sequences of corners.

This GSR 750 Street Edition is aimed at the urban rider who wants to stand out without spending weekends bolting parts on in the garage. It doesn't reinvent the sporty roadster formula, but it refines it with taste. A solid compromise for anyone seeking turnkey style, provided you're willing to pay the price for proudly embraced convenience.
