Who hasn't spent hours leafing through an accessories catalog after buying a Japanese roadster? Suzuki knows this obsession inside out and decided to get ahead of the curve with the 2016 GSR 750 Street Edition. Rather than letting customers bankrupt themselves piece by piece at the dealership, the Hamamatsu firm delivers a turnkey package, partnering with Rizoma, the Italian benchmark in high-end machined parts. The result is a roadster that rolls out of the dealership already dressed for Saturday night, without having to negotiate a single additional order form.

On the mechanical front, no revolution under the bodywork. You get the familiar 749 cc inline four-cylinder, a short-stroke, oversquare unit (72 x 46 mm) delivering 106 horsepower at 10,000 rpm and 79.4 Nm of torque at 9,000 rpm. It's not the most aggressive engine in the segment — the Kawasaki Z800 hit harder with its 113 horsepower — but the Suzuki powerplant has a quality the numbers don't tell you about: genuine responsiveness from the midrange and a linear power delivery that inspires confidence. The 12.3:1 compression ratio and well-spaced six-speed gearbox contribute to this sense of effortlessness. On the road, the 211 kg wet weight is quickly forgotten through the first corners. The seat, perched at 815 mm, filters road imperfections nicely thanks to the 43 mm inverted fork and monoshock pairing, whose respective 120 and 135 mm of travel soak up French tarmac and its surprises without flinching.
What sets this Street Edition apart from the standard GSR 750 comes down to a handful of Rizoma-signed details. Sport Line grips, minimalist Zero turn signals, redesigned footpegs, a machined oil filler cap, sleek-profile Limit Naked mirrors, swingarm spools, and bar-end weights. Each part taken individually seems trivial. Put together, they transform the roadster's stocky silhouette into something sharper, more refined. The real showpiece remains the Yoshimura R11 exhaust, which gives the four-cylinder a throatier, more assertive voice than the frankly timid stock system. You go from a polite murmur to a confident rumble, without crossing into vulgarity.
Braking, however, remains the GSR 750's longstanding weak point, and this special edition does nothing to change that. The two 310 mm front discs clamped by merely two-piston calipers lack bite when you push the pace. At a price tag of 9,249 euros, you'd have liked Suzuki to at least slip some sportier brake pads into the package. The 17.5-liter tank allows decent range for a roadster in this class, but don't expect to exceed 250 kilometers without keeping an eye on the fuel gauge. The claimed top speed of 220 km/h places the machine right in the middle of the segment.
Who is this Street Edition for? Riders who want a reliable, enjoyable everyday Japanese roadster and have neither the time nor the inclination to play weekend customizer. Up against a Yamaha MT-07 that's lighter but less powerful, or a Z800 that's more muscular but heavier, the GSR 750 occupies a comfortable middle ground. This Rizoma-dressed version adds a welcome touch of personality to a solid foundation, without claiming to reinvent the formula. It's a smart buy for anyone who wants to stand out without overcomplicating things.
