Seventy units, not one more. When Suzuki decides to capitalize on the thirteenth World Endurance title claimed by the S.E.R.T team in 2013, the manufacturer doesn't do things by halves. Rather than reserving the tribute solely for the GSX-R 1000, the quintessential race machine, Hamamatsu had the good idea of applying the tricolor livery to its mid-range roadster. The result: a GSR 750 S.E.R.T Edition that lets you fly the colors without folding yourself in four over clip-on handlebars.

Mechanically, we find the 749 cc inline four-cylinder that is the heart and soul of the standard GSR. The 106 horsepower delivered at 10,000 rpm and 79.4 Nm of torque at 7,500 rpm provide a sufficiently lively temperament to have fun on the road without veering into brutality. The engine, with its 12.3:1 compression ratio and ultra-short 46 mm stroke, loves to rev and responds with genuine eagerness in the midrange. The six-speed gearbox does its job without surprises. Up against a Kawasaki Z800 or a Yamaha FZ8, the Suzuki doesn't dominate on paper, but its engine character remains one of the most enjoyable in the segment.
What sets this limited edition apart is obviously its equipment. The Yoshimura R-11 stainless steel exhaust with carbon end cap is a game changer on the sound front and gives the exhaust note real character. A belly pan, decorated seat cowl, wheel stripe decals, rear paddock bobbins, a race stand, and a protective cover complete the package. The blue-white-red livery, a mix of paint and stickers applied to the belly pan and rear fairings, is a direct callback to the machines that devour the 24 Heures du Mans Moto. Visually, the result is a success and gives genuine personality to a roadster that, in standard trim, sometimes lacks aesthetic flair.
The steel perimeter frame houses a 43 mm inverted fork and a rear mono-shock, a classic but coherent setup for road use. The 211 kg wet weight remains contained, and the 815 mm seat height won't pose a problem for average-sized riders. The 17.5-liter tank allows decent range for weekend rides. On the other hand, the braking is the weak point of the package. Two 310 mm front discs squeezed by two-piston calipers — adequate but nothing more. On an edition that claims a lineage with racing, radial-mount calipers would have given real credibility to the pitch. The gap between the ambition of the livery and the modesty of the braking hardware is the main criticism one can level at this special series.
At 9,199 euros, the price climbs noticeably compared to the naked GSR 750. The premium is justified by the Yoshimura exhaust and the accessories, but you need a collector's streak to sign the check without hesitation. ABS, offered as an option for an additional 500 euros, should be standard at this price point. For a rider looking for a versatile roadster with a sporty temperament and a touch of exclusivity, this S.E.R.T Edition remains an appealing proposition. It is aimed above all at endurance enthusiasts who want to ride daily with a piece of Suzuki history under the seat, without enduring the constraints of a full-on sportbike. Seventy units — that's few. Enough to draw envious glances, not enough to guarantee real collector value.
