Overview
Two hundred units, not one more. In 2007, Suzuki decided to mark the centenary of the Isle of Man Tourist Trophy by dressing its GSX-R 600 in an exclusive livery, reserved solely for the British market. A shrewd marketing move, but also a fine nod to one of the most legendary and most dangerous races on the motorcycle calendar.

The mechanical foundation remains that of the 2007 GSX-R 600, a machine with nothing left to prove in the supersport category. Its 599 cc inline four-cylinder churns out 125 horsepower at 13,500 rpm and delivers 65.7 Nm of torque at 11,500 rpm. Figures that place it neck and neck with the Honda CBR 600 RR and the Yamaha YZF-R6, its historic rivals on track and on the road alike. At 161 kg dry and built around a twin-spar aluminium frame, it remains a scalpel — precise and incisive, capable of hitting a timed 270 km/h at the end of a straight. The running gear pulls no punches either: 41 mm inverted forks, radial-mount braking with twin 310 mm discs up front, and an adjustable rear monoshock. Serious kit, no frills.
What sets this special edition apart from the standard model is above all cosmetic. A unique colour scheme, adorned with commemorative decals on the seat cowl sides, serves as a reminder that the TT was then celebrating its hundredth year. The fork yoke bears an engraved plate showing each unit's identification number, alongside the official Tourist Trophy logo. A dark-tinted double-curve screen completes the picture. Nothing revolutionary on the technical front, but that is precisely the point of a limited edition: to lend an extra dose of soul to mechanicals that are already fully sorted.
One can obviously debate the merits of such an exercise. No power gain, no revised suspension, no dedicated engine mapping. At 11,000 euros — a slight premium over the catalogue version — the buyer is essentially paying for exclusivity and the right to ride a numbered machine. For a collector or a TT devotee, the maths add up. For anyone chasing outright performance, the price difference is better invested in a quality track-day course. Suzuki played the same card with the 750 and 1000 GSX-R, both also offered in Tourist Trophy trim, thus forming a rather coherent commemorative trio.
The fact remains that this GSX-R 600 TT edition perfectly embodies the spirit of its era: that of Japanese supersports at the peak of their powers, before emissions regulations and onboard electronics came along to reshape the category. With its seat perched at 810 mm, its 17-litre tank and its track-bred temperament, it is aimed at experienced riders capable of exploiting an engine that only truly comes alive beyond 10,000 rpm. An enthusiast's motorcycle, built for enthusiasts, and one that holds a special appeal today for anyone who thrills to the sound of the Tourist Trophy.
