Overview

MV Agusta has always flirted with sporting excellence, but its new LXP Orioli marks a radical shift. We leave the circuits and streamlined lines to embrace dust and vast horizons. This machine is not simply a statement of intent; it is a commitment to the world of trails, a territory that the Varese brand had previously explored with the Turismo Veloce, a crossover more suited to asphalt than rocky paths.

MV Agusta LXP Orioli

The design is a direct evolution of the Lucky Explorer 9.5 concept, with an imposing profile that immediately recalls large adventure bikes like the Africa Twin. The 931 cm3 triple-cylinder engine is the heart of this transformation. It delivers 124 horsepower at 10,000 rpm, but the real change lies in the torque, with 102 Nm available from 7,000 rpm. This engine, weighing only 57 kg, offers remarkable availability, 85% of its power being present from 3,000 rpm. It cleverly positions itself between the liveliness of mid-displacement trails and the quiet power of larger models. The frame adopts a double cradle made of steel, a classic architecture of the segment but new for MV Agusta, optimized for robustness and a dry weight of 224 kg. The 230 mm ground clearance and the 210 mm Sachs suspension travel clearly announce its off-road intentions, supported by Bridgestone AX41 tires and 21 and 18-inch Excel Takasago rims.

The technical equipment lives up to the ambitions. The braking system, with its 320 mm discs and Brembo Stylema calipers, would almost belong on a sports bike. The electronics are omnipresent: adjustable cornering ABS, five-position traction control, four riding modes, cruise control, and even a launch control. The interface is based on a 7-inch color TFT screen, connected and clear. As standard, it includes crash bars, handguards, a large skid plate, a luggage rack, and even aluminum rigid panniers. However, at this level of finish and for a trail destined for touring, the absence of heated grips as standard is a surprising, almost incomprehensible choice.

MV Agusta LXP Orioli

This LXP Orioli is a limited series of 500 units, signed by the legendary Edi Orioli, quadruple winner of the Dakar. It includes a kit with a Termignoni titanium exhaust, reducing the weight to 220 kg, and a certificate of authenticity. Its price, considerable, places this machine in a prestige category. For those wondering what the price of the MV Agusta LXP Orioli 2024 is, expect a tariff aligned with its status as a rare and technically complete object, comparable to the high-end models of Ducati or Honda, but with the unique aura of Varese.

MV Agusta LXP Orioli

This motorcycle clearly targets the adventurous globetrotter, the one who seeks a machine capable of long journeys, with real potential off the beaten path, but without sacrificing refinement and technology. It is not the most radical in off-road, but it offers an elegant and powerful compromise, rich in history and equipment. Its success will depend on its ability to convince that the sporty and racing spirit of MV Agusta can be expressed as well on a dirt track as on a straight line.
