Overview
Imagine an object that scarcely exists, a legend so rare that it seems to escape catalogs and dealerships. The MV Agusta F4 750 AGOSTINI from 2004 is this creature, a tribute motorcycle so exclusive that it flirts with myth. MV Agusta, a brand whose history is intertwined with that of Giacomo Agostini and his 15 world titles, wanted here to seal this alliance in metal and passion. Only 500 copies were promised, each marked with an 18-carat gold plate bearing the name of its owner, like a sacred pact between the machine and its rider. But between the announcement and reality, mystery settled in. Apart from the model presented to journalists, this motorcycle seems to have mainly lived in brochures, leaving room for the F4 1000 to later carry the same iconic colors.

Technically, it is a refined evolution of the F4 SPR. Its inline four-cylinder engine, with a displacement of 749 cc, delivers 146 horsepower at 13,000 rpm, with a torque of 80.4 Nm arriving high, at 11,000 rpm. It is a mechanical system that speaks to initiates, which requires playing with the selector to make it sing. The steel chrome molybdenum tube frame, the Marzocchi and Sachs suspensions specifically prepared, and the forged Marchesini rims give it a racing pedigree. But the true luxury lies in the details: a fork treated with titanium nitride, carbon fiber parts scattered like jewels, and this thick, provocative red Alcantara seat, which contrasts with the usual austerity of sports seats.
At nearly 219 kg fully fueled, with a seat height of 790 mm, it is not the most agile of superbikes. Compared to a Honda CBR600RR or a Yamaha YZF-R6 of the time, it is heavier, more exclusive, and clearly less focused on pure performance. Its price of 31,495 euros positions it in another universe, that of collectibles, machines to look at as much as to ride. It is made for the motorcyclist who seeks a mechanical work of art, a tribute to Agostini that he can, in theory, take on the roads. But with a top speed announced at 280 km/h and a 20-liter fuel tank, it remains a motorcycle capable of serious performance, for those who accept its haughty character and meticulous maintenance needs.
In short, the F4 750 AGOSTINI is a paradox. A superbly prepared motorcycle, with finishes that scream Italian luxury, but whose production seems to have been a mirage. It is the ultimate expression of a passion, a tribute perhaps too pure for the market. For the collector or MV Agusta enthusiast, it represents a Grail. For the track rider seeking absolute performance, it is a magnificent but costly detour. It remains, in motorcycle history, a flamboyant testimony to what a brand can create when it mixes art, legend, and mechanics. A rare, almost unfindable piece, that continues to fuel dreams.
