Overview
MBK has always had a knack for turning a regulatory constraint into a selling point. With the 2009 X-Limit Super Moto, the brand pushes the concept to its paroxysm. Here, we are no longer talking about a simple 50cc urban mobility vehicle, but about a true miniature supermotard, a concentrate of attitude and sporty geometry for a young and demanding audience. Beneath its big bike appearance, this mechanics remains faithful to the legislation: a 49.7 cm3 two-stroke single-cylinder engine, fueled by a carburetor, developing 2.8 horsepower at 6750 rpm. With a bore of 40.3 mm for a stroke of 39 mm and a compression ratio of 12:1, this engine is typical of the era, designed to be reliable and easy to maintain, or even to be prepared for the most daring.

The chassis, for its part, makes no concessions to the segment. A wheelbase of 1350 mm and a ground clearance of 317 mm announce clear intentions: maneuverability and agility. The seat, perched at 870 mm, imposes a stature, even if its featherweight of 98 kg when fully fueled will reassure beginners. The suspensions, a telescopic fork at the front and a hydraulic shock absorber at the rear, are calibrated for mixed use, capable of absorbing a curb as well as performing acrobatics in the city. The 17-inch rims, shod with 100/80 tires at the front and 130/70 at the rear, are a direct inheritance from the supermotard world, offering precise and reassuring handling.
The braking system, with a single disc at each axle, may seem light on paper, but it is perfectly sized for the actual mass and performance of the machine. Liquid cooling helps maintain stable temperatures, even in heavy traffic or during demanding use. This is a motorcycle that doesn't cheat with its looks: it features all the codes of the supermotard, from the high riding position to the short mudguard, including the high-mounted silencer. It is made to be seen and to give its rider, whatever their age, the feeling of riding a much more hardy machine.
Who is it for? For the teenager who wants to stand out from the mass of scooters, for the young license holder looking for a first motorcycle experience with mechanical transmission without the complexity of a large displacement, or even for the urban dweller who prioritizes minimum bulk and maximum fun. The MBK X-Limit Super Moto does not claim to rival an Aprilia SX 50 or a Derbi Senda in terms of cutting-edge technology, but it offers a coherent, reliable package and, above all, immediately appealing. It is a serious toy, a gateway to motorcycle culture that, with a little elbow grease and imagination, can become the companion of all urban adventures.
