Overview
Some motorcycles are born to race, others to be seen. The KTM 1190 RC8 R Red Bull replica, however, refuses to choose. In 2010, when KTM released this limited series, the RC8 R was no stranger to European paddocks: Stefan Nebel had pushed it to become the vice-champion of the German Superbike, proof that the chrome-molybdenum trellis frame and the LC8 V-twin were not just marketing arguments. KTM already knew how to dress its victories, the Jeremy McWilliams replica had demonstrated it. This time, the partner is Red Bull, and the result is unequivocal.

Visually, this machine does not ask for attention, it demands it. The red and silver fairing in the colors of the Austrian sponsor transforms an already aggressive sportbike into something that borders on indecency. You either love it or hate it, but you don't pass by without turning around. Under the graphic envelope, the mechanics remain those that made the RC8 R’s reputation: 1195 cc, 170 horsepower at 10,250 rpm, 120.6 Nm of torque at 8000 rpm, all housed in a block with a compression ratio of 13.5:1 and 105 mm bore pistons. At 182 kg dry weight, the RC8 R is not the lightest in its category, but it compensates with a concentration of noble material that justifies the €23,250 asking price.
Because KTM did not simply paint a special series. Forged aluminum Marchesini rims lighten the unsprung masses, carbon fiber dresses a few strategic details, and the radial Brembo braking system with monoblock four-piston calipers on 320 mm discs at the front demonstrates the ambitions of the machine. At 280 km/h top speed, this braking installation is not a luxury. The 43 mm inverted fork and the single shock absorber, both adjustable, offer 120 mm of travel on each side, a provision consistent with an assumed track usage.
The target audience is clearly identified: neither novice nor touring rider is invited. The 805 mm seat height, the tucked riding position, and the available power require solid experience. Facing a Ducati 1198 or an Aprilia RSV4 from the same era, the KTM plays the card of originality rather than pure technical domination. It does not have the electronic refinement of its Italian rivals, but it offers a more raw, more direct engine character, which will appeal to riders who prefer to feel the mechanics beneath them rather than let them be managed by computers. This Red Bull replica embodies exactly the KTM DNA: seriousness under a provocative appearance.
