Overview
Imagine a track weapon so accomplished that it arrives in your garage with factory colors, ready to repeat the exploits that crushed the WSBK championship. That is the essence of this 2016 ZX-10R in KRT Replica livery. It doesn't just mimic the competition, it is its direct extension, a tribute to Jonathan Rea's world title and Tom Sykes' Superpoles. At €17,799, you buy more than just a warrior aesthetic with red fork chambers; you are offering yourself a fragment of the soul of the Kawasaki Racing Team.

Under its fairing, which subtly refines the lines of the previous generation – sharper headlights, a more tapered rear – the beast hides massive technical evolution. The engine remains nominally at 200 horsepower, but what a four-cylinder! Revised from the intake to the exhaust, with a 20% lighter crankshaft, it breathes better, responds faster, and fills the revs with a feline voracity. The gearbox, disassembled for easier maintenance, sees its second and sixth gears shortened: it is designed for attack, from the corner to its theoretical ceiling of 300 km/h. On the road, the three mappings (60, 80, or 100% power) make it an surprisingly civilized companion, as long as you respect its appetite for high revs.
But the real generational leap lies in its equipment. You tremble before the front end: a Showa Balance Free fork with external chambers, a circuit technology previously reserved for the elite. Paired with Brembo M50 monoblock brakes and 330 mm discs, it offers a feel and braking power that makes a Panigale pale. The electronics, for their part, go into 3D mode with a Bosch five-axis inertial module. The S-KTRC traction control, now capable of taking into account the machine's lean angle, the launch control, the quickshifter, and an intelligent anti-wheelie system form an arsenal that places the Ninja on the level of a Yamaha R1 or a Ducati 1299. Only the ABS, which can be deactivated via the racing kit key, recalls that you are still riding in a civilized environment.
With a slightly revised perimeter frame and modified geometry for better front-end loading, the ZX-10R gains stability and cornering bite. Its weight increases slightly, to 206 kg fully fueled, probably the tribute to anti-pollution standards. The 835 mm seat imposes its compromise, but the riding remains accessible for a confirmed track rider. This is its public: the rider who seeks absolute efficiency on the track, without the nervousness of an Italian, with the reliability and seriousness of a Japanese machine. It is not a revolution, but an evolution so precise that it widens the gap. In your hands, you will not be a simple owner, but an honorary member of the KRT. All that’s missing is the race number on the fork.
