Overview
Who needs a yacht when you can ride 416 kilos of American metal on two wheels? The 2023 Indian Pursuit Elite plays in a league of its own — that of grand luxury tourers where comfort and presence matter far more than agility. Up against a Harley-Davidson Road Glide Ultra or a BMW K 1600 GTL, Indian makes its move with an unapologetic philosophy: ever more equipment, ever more refinement, and a price tag that reflects those ambitions. At €44,990, you're entering the territory of rolling living rooms reserved for riders who refuse to sacrifice a thing.

Beneath that two-tone paintwork with gold pinstriping lies the 1769 cc PowerPlus V-twin, a liquid-cooled 60° V-twin producing 122 horsepower at 5,500 rpm and, more importantly, 178 Nm of torque from just 3,800 rpm. This engine sets itself apart from the air-cooled Thunderstroke that powers the Chief and Roadmaster. Less generous at the very bottom of the rev range, it gets its revenge with better top-end stretch and superior mid-range responsiveness. The 11:1 compression ratio, 108 mm bore, and 96.5 mm stroke betray an engine designed to rev with a minimum of enthusiasm. The belt drive and six-speed gearbox deliver a smoothness consistent with the machine's stature. We're not talking sportiness in the strict sense, but the Pursuit Elite proves more responsive than its ocean-liner silhouette would suggest.
The cast aluminum frame houses a 43 mm inverted fork with 130 mm of travel and a Fox rear shock that's electronically adjustable from the dashboard, though limited to preload only. With a seat height of 672 mm, accessibility remains reasonable despite the imposing dimensions. Braking duties fall to twin 320 mm discs clamped by radially mounted Brembo M4 calipers up front and a 298 mm disc at the rear. A Bosch inertial measurement unit manages cornering ABS, traction control, and torque distribution based on lean angle. For a tourer weighing 400 kg dry, it's a serious arsenal that inspires confidence when you need to scrub off speed from its 180 km/h top velocity.

On the equipment front, the 2024 Indian Pursuit Elite — like the 2023 model year — spares no expense. Sixteen speakers fed by 200 watts of audio power, a 9-band equalizer that adjusts volume according to speed, a 7-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay compatibility, integrated GPS navigation, and Bluetooth. Add three riding modes, cruise control, keyless ignition, an electrically adjustable windshield, heated grips and seat, tire pressure monitoring, and 137 liters of remotely lockable storage. The 22.7-liter tank provides reasonable range between stops. The only notable absence: an electric reverse gear — a regrettable omission when you need to maneuver this behemoth on a sloped parking lot.

The Indian Pursuit Elite targets a very specific audience. Long-distance tourers who want the pinnacle of Indian's lineup, those who see the Pursuit Limited as a starting point rather than a finish line. Against the competition, it asserts its character with that expressive V-twin and a level of finish that rivals high-end automobiles. Its main drawback remains its price — the highest in the entire Indian range. For anyone searching for a 2025 Indian Pursuit Elite for sale or a used model, the bill remains steep. But that's the price of no-compromise touring, American style.
