Overview
When Boxer Design gets its hands on a motorcycle, the result never fails to make an impression. The French workshop has built its reputation on projects that venture well off the beaten track: the VB1, the only French hypersport worthy of the name; the short-lived SSR 1000 that left its mark; and a metamorphosed R1 reborn as the Steel Fighter. These craftsmen have a particular talent for transforming well-behaved Japanese machines into mean-looking beasts, and Honda roadsters seem to have become their favorite playground. After the Hornet Wakizashi and the Hornet R, it's the CB 1000 R's turn to pass through their hands.

The base is no ordinary starting point. Beneath this revisited bodywork lies an inline four-cylinder displacing 999 cc, producing 130 horsepower at 10,000 rpm, paired with 98 Nm of torque available at 8,000 rpm. A power profile characteristic of big Japanese fours, more at home at high revs than in urban riding. All of this comes in at 217 kg on the scales, which places the CB 1000 R squarely in the middle of its class alongside rivals like the Kawasaki Z1000 and the Suzuki GSX-S1000. The 828 mm seat height reserves it for average to tall riders — shorter legs will need to adapt.
The Boxer Design kit changes none of this mechanically. The objective lies elsewhere: to give this streetfighter a more brutal, more assertive face, without touching Honda's underlying philosophy or distorting the original lines. The pack includes dual-material two-piece side scoops, a three-part belly pan, a seat cowl, a rear fender, a laser-cut stainless steel license plate bracket, the necessary mounting hardware, and a decorative adhesive kit. Two finishes are available: Platinum, with a texture evoking carbon fiber, and Silver, offering a satin aluminum look. The first hardens the character; the second plays a more technical and contemporary tune.
For a few hundred euros on top of the machine's base price of €11,691, the visual transformation is real. Boxer Design is not in the business of copying the generic kits that proliferate on specialist websites. Quality of finish and stylistic coherence are their signature, and this kit is no exception. That is precisely what justifies the premium over a simple cosmetic option bought online: you're paying for considered design work, not plastic clipped on in a hurry.
The target audience is urban riders and sport-touring enthusiasts who want to stand out without going through a traditional custom builder. The Boxer Design CB 1000 R makes no claim to rival a Ducati Streetfighter V4 in terms of raw personality, but it offers a distinct visual identity at an accessible price point. For those who find the standard CB 1000 R too understated in its factory clothing, this kit addresses that need directly without compromising the machine's dynamic qualities — 43 mm inverted fork, Pro-Link single-sided swingarm, and radial braking included. A targeted evolution, with no compromise on what matters most.
