Overview
How do you make heads turn on a highway when you’re already at the top of the Harley pyramid? The MoCo’s answer is brutal: inflate the engine to almost inappropriate dimensions. The CVO 1920 Limited FLHTKSE isn’t just the ultimate Touring model; it now features the Milwaukee-Eight 117, a 1923 cm³ V-twin. Imagine an engine that swallows nearly two liters of gasoline to produce 106 horsepower and 165.7 Nm of torque, available from 3500 rpm. On a machine that weighs 428 kg fully fueled, we’re talking less about explosive performance than about sovereign authority. This engine is a statement, a reminder that in the cruiser world, displacement remains royalty.

Harley also worked on the seat. The telescopic fork now adopts Showa SDBV technology, while the rear shocks abandon the pneumatic system for a more stable emulsion system, with adjustable hydraulic preload without tools. For a motorcycle that weighs this much, these improvements are crucial. They won’t transform the Limited into a track machine, but they refine its behavior on long straightaways and committed turns, giving it a consistency that was sometimes lacking in previous generations. Braking, with its dual 300 mm discs and four-piston calipers, is up to the mass, without being transcendent.
Where this CVO truly crushes the competition is in the equipment. It’s a kind of rolling palace. The Batwing fairing, the Boom! GTS system with touchscreen, 3D GPS, Apple CarPlay compatibility, the 75-watt amplifier, the heated rider and passenger seats, cruise control, heated grips, linked ABS, improved saddlebags and top case… the list is so long it becomes almost ridiculous. Everything is controllable via a One-Touch button or the touchscreen interface. Harley has even integrated tire pressure monitoring and LED turn signals. It’s a motorcycle that never asks you to compromise, only to know which luxury you want to activate.

Yet, at 42,690 euros, it places itself in a financial territory almost disconnected from reality. Compared to a BMW K 1600 B or even a Honda Gold Wing, it doesn’t offer the versatility or technical refinement of these competitors. It’s slower, heavier, and its engine, despite its volume, produces less power. But it sells a unique experience, a panache that can only be explained on its saddle. Its audience is that of Harley purists, those who consider the journey a celebration of the brand, and for whom every chrome detail, every vibration of the V-Twin, every kilometer traveled is a rite.
The CVO 1920 Limited is therefore not a rational motorcycle. It’s a statement, a challenge to the laws of physics and economics. With its 22.7-liter tank and 760 mm seat height, it promises endless journeys in opulent comfort. But it demands total commitment, an acceptance of its weight, its price, and its philosophy. For those seeking the ultimate expression of the American cruiser, it is probably the pinnacle. For everyone else, it remains an object of fascination, magnificent and excessive, like a collector's watch that is worn less for the time it indicates than for the message it delivers.
