Overview
Picture a roadside bar somewhere in Wisconsin, dust still clinging to the boots, a vinyl spinning in the back room and cylinders cooling on the parking lot. That's exactly the atmosphere Milwaukee is trying to bottle in this Ultra Limited dressed in Tobacco Fade livery, a resident of the Enthusiast series produced in just 2000 units. A confidential edition, then, that plays the nostalgia card to the hilt with a paint gradient directly evoking the Sunburst finishes of 1960s Gibson Les Pauls. The tank medallion mimics a 78 rpm record, a small guitar pick sits atop the front fender, and the cultural signature is laid down before you've even turned the key.

Beneath this rock imagery, the mechanicals don't budge a millimeter from the standard Ultra Limited. The Milwaukee-Eight 114 remains the backbone of the program, with its 1868 cc carved into a 45-degree V-twin, 102-millimeter bore, 114 stroke, 10.5 compression and four valves per cylinder. On paper, the 87 horsepower at 5020 rpm can raise a wry smile when compared with an Indian Roadmaster or a Honda Gold Wing and its 126 horsepower. In reality, what matters here is torque, and the 159.8 Nm served up from just 3000 rpm says everything about the brief. This big V-twin isn't chasing lap times, it shoves the whole package forward with a twist of the wrist, top speed capped around 170 km/h, which is plenty given the spec sheet.
The rest falls under American luxury in its most unapologetic definition. 416 kilos wet, a tubular steel double cradle, a beefy 49-millimeter telescopic fork and two side-mounted shocks with short 76-millimeter travel. The seat, set at 740 millimeters, makes life easier at red lights, even if wrestling the beast out of a parking spot takes attention and calf muscles. Braking relies on two 300-millimeter discs up front and an identical disc at the rear, all bitten by four-piston calipers, with cornering ABS, linked braking, cruise control, traction control, hill start assist and tire pressure monitoring. The Boom Box GTS infotainment, a 16.5-centimeter TFT screen, four speakers, GPS, intercom and smartphone integration, turns long back roads into a rolling lounge.
Then there's the question of the price tag, and that's where the poetry of whiskey-tinted sheet metal meets solid ground. 37,550 euros to treat yourself to the Tobacco Fade, which is about 3,600 euros more than the standard Ultra Limited, strictly for the paint and the trim. Ten percent of the catalog price just for a livery — let's call it what it is, that's collector pricing, not user pricing. Up against an Indian Roadmaster Dark Horse that puts out more power for a comparable budget, or a BMW K 1600 GTL that's dynamically far sharper, the argument has to be found somewhere other than the spec sheet.

So who is this ocean liner with its 22.7-liter tank and nearly four hundred dry kilos aimed at? Certainly not the beginner rider, nor the one dreaming of stopwatch runs in the mountains. The typical customer is the long-haul tourer, a fan of five-hundred-kilometer stages and music in the ears, probably already a Harley owner, who wants a standout piece in the garage. A mood motorcycle more than a performance motorcycle, owned as such, and whose charm truly works if you already vibrate to the mythology it cultivates.
