Overview
We continue the tradition, and we don’t tire of it. Like the sportbikes, like the Monsters, like the HM and SM, the Streetfighter is entitled to its S version; and for 2012, it will be the only version of the 1098 SF. The family now consists of an 848 that is more playful and easier to handle. The big red Streetfighter will only be available in its most effective version, thus reserving itself for a certain elite. Inside, there’s a lot of power backed by a sporty chassis sprinkled with high-end suspensions – that’s the SF 1098 S. For Sport, for Speciale, for Surtaxé everything that moves? This little letter added to the name primarily means that the motorcycle is equipped with the best suspensions available: Öhlins. The fork and the shock absorber come from the Swedish supplier. A guarantee of quality, better efficiency, and a weight reduction for Ducati’s new ballsy roadster.
That’s not all. The package holds a few surprises. Forged Marchesini rims, carbon fiber parts, and the famous traction control DTC, straight from the 1198 Set1098 R. A more reassuring feature when you have 155 horsepower at your command, even if the chassis is nothing to envy from the best hypersports on the market. Of course, Ducati won’t trade you this demonic machine unless you offer a substantial and well-stocked purse. The S version of the 1098 Streetfighter is priced at more than 19,000 euros.
