Overview
So, this is how Ducati says goodbye? Not with a sob, but with a roar. The Panigale V2 Superquadro Final Edition, priced at €28,000, is less a motorcycle than a pre-packaged relic, a flashy tribute limited to 555 units to seal the fate of a mythical engine. This 955 cm3 L-twin, the last Superquadro, spits out 155 horsepower and 104 Nm of torque with a raspy voice that will soon belong to the past. On paper, it's a hardcore track machine, with its monocoque frame, fully adjustable Öhlins fork and shock, and Brembo radial brakes. But at heart, it's a collector's item.

It's built on the solid foundations of the Bayliss edition, but Ducati has thrown everything into the aesthetics. The livery, created by Drudi Performance, is an aggressive blend of red, white, and black that pops like a racing team flag. The most telling detail? This technical drawing on the fairing, a false window into the twin's innards, placed exactly where the mechanical heart beats. It's Italian symbolism, a little ostentatious, but terribly effective. It offers a package of exclusives: carbon fiber parts, Rizoma footrests, a machined fuel cap, and even a dedicated cover. Yet, one might be surprised that for this swan song, Ducati didn't dare to use Stylema calipers, leaving the M4.32, certainly excellent, to do the job. A choice that stings a bit for a "Final" edition at this price.
For the rider, the experience remains ultra-sporty. The 835 mm seat asserts its authority, and the 190 kg dry weight disappears from the first tight turns. The electronics, although derived from a previous generation and less refined than those of the V4, remain impressively complete with its Cornering ABS, traction control, and anti-wheelie. It's a machine that demands commitment, but rewards it tenfold on the track, where its precise chassis and temperamental engine find their full meaning. It doesn't have the cold excess of an over-regulated Japanese machine like a Yamaha YZF-R7, nor the versatility of an Aprilia RS 660. No, the V2 Final Edition is a pure emotional object, a final mechanical outburst before the new era.

Who will buy it? Certainly not a beginner, frightened by its price and temperament. Not really a touring rider either, with its 17-liter tank and combat riding position. Its audience is the informed collector, the nostalgic track rider, or the fervent Ducatist who wants to engrave a piece of history in their garage. Because that's what it is. With this model, Ducati buries an engine whose lineage goes back to the 1988 851. The Superquadro, born on the 1199 Panigale, has reached its most accomplished form in "small" displacement here. You pay a high price for a numbered item, a certificate of authenticity, and the certainty of owning a limited edition. Is it a good motorcycle? Yes, excellent. Is it a good buy? That's another story, which plays far beyond simple performance.
