Overview
Do you buy a world champion replica for its performance or its history? With this Panigale V2 Bulega Replica, Ducati clearly answers: for history, and above all for status. At €43,000, this series limited to 111 units costs the same as a base V4, a sum that elevates you from motorcycle rider to collector. The exercise is fascinating, as it reveals how far the valuation of a mechanical object can go once signed, numbered, and packaged in a wooden case.

Under the white, red, and green livery celebrating Nicolò Bulega’s 2023 Supersport World Championship title, we find the technical base of the Panigale V2. The 955 cm³ L-twin, true to itself, delivers its rugged 158 horsepower and frank torque of 105 Nm. But here, the factory has added a handful of bonus points. The original Akrapovic racing exhaust gains approximately 2% of power and, above all, lightens the beast by 5 kg, while the Öhlins fork and shock replace the Showa and Sachs units of the standard version. We also note a rain of carbon fiber details and adjustable Rizoma footrests. Is this enough to justify the price difference? Not at all. A well-prepared standard V2 with the same budget would be much more performant. But that’s not the point.
The real selling point is the sense of belonging. Each motorcycle bears a laser-engraved number on the fork tube, a dedicated key, an exclusive start-up animation, and above all, Bulega’s original signature lacquered on the tank. The seat features the rider’s logo, and delivery is made in a graphite-colored wooden crate, with cover and certificate of authenticity. It’s an acquisition ritual, almost a ceremony, reserved for a handful of privileged individuals. The motorcycle is delivered in a single-seat configuration, a detail that emphasizes its nature as a display object more than a machine for everyday use.
Who is the typical customer? Certainly not the track rider seeking lap times, who would prefer a used V4S or an Aprilia RSV4. Nor is it the sporty touring rider, with a 835 mm seat height and a 17-liter tank still geared towards the circuit. The buyer is a passionate fan of the brand, an aesthete for whom rarity and history are more valuable than the technical specifications. He buys a piece of Ducati heritage, a mechanical sculpture that celebrates a specific moment of glory in World Supersport.

Ultimately, this Panigale V2 Bulega Replica is a paradox on wheels. It bears the name of a champion and features premium technical equipment, but it is not intended to be pushed to its limits. It’s a tribute, a collector's item, a symbol. As such, it perfectly fulfills its role: to exalte a sense of belonging and flatter the owner's ego. For the rest, there’s the standard V2, much more accessible, and just as capable of bringing a smile to your face in a corner. The choice, ultimately, is not between two motorcycles, but between two philosophies.
