Overview
When Daelim arrived on the European market with this VT Evolution, few people bet on the Korean brand. In 2000, the name meant nothing to anyone, or almost. Yet, this 125 custom managed to establish itself where others failed, by playing a simple but formidable card: looking much larger than it is.

The dimensions are impressive. You think of a real mid-size custom before realizing that there are only 124 cc under the 12.2-liter tank. The engine, derived from a Honda technical base, is a 4-stroke, 4-valve single-cylinder that produces 13 horsepower at 9,000 rpm, with a torque of 11.8 Nm available at 7,000 rpm. It's not track power, but it's sufficient to reach 110 km/h and seriously defend against other customs in the category. The 5-speed gearbox manages chain transmission with a welcome smoothness, and the engine proves just as comfortable in acceleration as in free revs. For a 125, it's far from insignificant.
The standard equipment is worth noting. Integrated fuel gauge, center stand, tubeless rims, backup kick: Daelim delivered the complete machine, without skimping. The chrome is generous, the handlebar adopts an assumed "low rider" posture, and the finish keeps its promises. At 3,178 euros, the proposition is difficult to contradict. The 153 kg dry weight remains within a reasonable range for the style, and the tire fit in 90/90-18 at the front and 130/90-15 at the rear matches the chosen aesthetic register.
The only shadow on the picture comes from within the range itself. The arrival of the Daystar, a direct and well-bred cousin, will force the VT Evolution to defend its territory. Family competition is often the fiercest. However, for an A1 license holder eager to display a credible silhouette without ruining their budget, this Korean remains a serious option. It is aimed at those who want to ride a custom without compromising on reliability, or on price. It's a clear positioning, and the VT Evolution maintains it.
