Overview
We're talking about a motorcycle that wanted to shake things up. Not literally, although its character surprised more than one person, but in the landscape of mid-2000s roadsters. Imagine: a newly resurrected Benelli arriving with a roaring Italian triple and a brawler's attitude. The TnT Titanium 1130 was Pesaro's declaration of war against the well-behaved Japanese and the overly polished European bikes. With 143 horsepower from an inline three-cylinder engine at 9250 rpm, it promised raw thrills, unfiltered. The torque? A solid 117 Nm arriving early, ready to rip your arms off from 6750 rpm. On paper, it had what it took to make a Triumph Speed Triple of the era, or even an MV Agusta Brutale, pale, in terms of pure sensations.

But a motorcycle lives on more than just numbers. The true identity of this Benelli TnT Titanium was built around a mixed steel and aluminum chassis, an architecture that aimed for rigidity while maintaining a certain feel. The 50 mm Marzocchi inverted fork, fully adjustable, and the Extreme Technology rear monoshock spoke the language of the track. Yet, with a 17-liter fuel tank and a 780 mm seat height, it didn't completely renounce the road. Where it hit hard was with its high rev limit. At 196 kg dry, it placed itself in the heavyweight class, but this weight was offset by a distribution and aggressiveness that made it feel more nervous than an equivalent Japanese bike. The brakes, two front discs with four-piston calipers, had the bite necessary to restrain the beast.
It must be said, the biggest flaw of this Italian bike, besides a prohibitive price of around €22,500 at the time, was its temperament. The final chain transmission delivered power in a jerky manner, the dry clutch was demanding, and the engine, although charismatic with its raspy sound, lacked the smoothness of a Japanese four-cylinder. It wasn't made for the novice or the touring rider seeking comfort. It was the weapon of the experienced rider seeking an intense mechanical experience, a high-thrill motorcycle that grabbed you by the gut more than it caressed your back. Faced with a Yamaha MT-01, more rumbling and low-end, or a KTM Super Duke 990, more agile and crazy, the Benelli TnT Titanium 1130 played the card of pure and hard eccentricity.
Today, this motorcycle has become a collector's item, a witness to an era when Benelli was going all out with bold mechanics. It remains in memories as an Italian roadster, imperfect, sometimes frustrating, but terribly charismatic. For those seeking a motorcycle with a raw soul, a unique sound, and an undeniable stage presence, this 1130 cm3 triple can still make your heart race. But you must approach it as you would tame a wildcat, with respect and a good dose of passion. It was less a means of transport than a statement of intent on two wheels.
