Overview

Is Benelli still remembered? In 2009, the Italian brand, then under Chinese ownership, released its ultimate card to shake up the world of muscular roadsters: the TnT Titanium. It wasn't a simple evolution, but a statement, a punch on the table aimed at reminding everyone that the tricolor soul still beat beneath the fairing. With a price tag approaching €22,500, it directly targeted the Ducati Streetfighter, which was emerging at the same time, and other MV Brutales. The bet was bold, but the proposition, technically, was not lacking in character.

Benelli TnT Titanium

The heart of the matter is, of course, this 1130 cm3 inline three-cylinder engine, a signature of the brand. Benelli slightly adjusted the settings to extract 141 horsepower at 9500 rpm and, above all, a generous torque of 119.6 Nm which arrives early, at 7750 rpm. On the scale, the deal becomes interesting: by playing with noble materials, the engineers managed to lighten the beast by six kilos compared to the standard TnT, displaying 193 kg dry weight. A crucial figure that, added to a well-felt weight distribution, promises a liveliness that defies physics for a motorcycle of this displacement.

Just talking about what justifies its name and its price. The Benelli TnT Titanium 1130 boasts features that make any lover of beautiful mechanics salivate. The forged Marchesini rims, the dry clutch visible under a open clutch cover, the titanium exhaust line and the numerous carbon fiber parts are not there for show. They actively participate in the weight reduction and the aggressive and technical style. The 50 mm inverted fork and the single rear shock absorber, with an Ergal body, offer multiple adjustments for those who want to fine-tune the handling. The braking system, with radial calipers at the front, inspires confidence to restrain a machine capable of approaching 240 km/h.

Who is this machine for? Clearly not for beginners, nor for economists. The Italian roadster is a characterful animal, demanding, whose sporty riding position and 16-liter tank betray a more playful and demonstrative vocation than long-distance touring. It is aimed at the pure enthusiast, the one who is looking for an eccentric alternative to Japanese or Austrian references, a motorcycle that possesses that flame and those flaws that make Italian motorcycles charming. Its biggest drawback, besides a price that placed it in the court of the very demanding, will remain a sometimes capricious reliability, a legacy of a troubled period for the brand.

The TnT Titanium 1130 remains therefore a collector's item, a lively roadster that tried to mark its time with technology and excess. It proves that Benelli, at the time, had the audacity to want to play with the big boys. Today, it embodies a fascinating milestone, a little raw, in the history of naked roadsters, recalling that passion sometimes nestles in projects as intense as they are imperfect.
