Overview
Misano, 1987. Loris Reggiani crosses the finish line aboard an AF1 250 and delivers Aprilia its first Grand Prix victory. The machine barely put out 90 horsepower. Thirty-three years later, the Noale manufacturer picks up the brush again to commemorate that achievement, and the Tuono V4 1100 RR Misano Limited Edition carries that story on its numbered tank, with 175 horsepower beneath the seat to honor the memory.

The figure deserves a moment's pause. 175 horsepower extracted from a 65-degree V4 displacing 1077 cc, 120.6 Nm of torque available at 9,000 rpm, all housed in a chassis weighing 185 kg dry. The recipe is that of the RSV4, transposed into an upright riding position with handlebars and a standing stance. This is not a roadster in the classical sense, nor a superbike dressed in civilian clothes. The Tuono occupies its own category — that of hyperfighters that wink at time-pressed urban riders while knowing how to bite lap times on a circuit. Up against the KTM Super Duke R 1290 or the Ducati Streetfighter V4, it does not try to seduce at any cost; it imposes its character from the very first meters.
The Misano series brings no mechanical evolution over the standard RR. No exclusive mapping, no revised suspension. What you're paying for is a livery modeled on the RSV4 Misano, a carbon fiber front fender, and a lithium battery — two elements that shave a few grams off the weight balance. One hundred units produced, destined for the American market, with that engraved numbering on the tank that gives the object its entire symbolic value. At $14,520, you enter collector territory as much as rider territory, and those two profiles do not necessarily share the same expectations.
The real subject, with this Tuono, remains the electronics. Without them, 175 horsepower perched on a motorcycle weighing 209 kg fully fueled would make for very short careers. The Aprilia APRC management system, with traction control, anti-wheelie, and quickshifter, transforms this concentrated violence into something manageable — even if the word "docile" has no place in this V4's vocabulary. The 43 mm Sachs fork and rear monoshock absorb weight transfers with composure, while the radially mounted Brembo calipers on twin 330 mm discs handle the rest. The 825 mm seat height naturally selects its audience; average-sized riders will need to make their peace with it.
Those who miss out on these hundred units have little reason to mourn. The standard Tuono V4 RR offers exactly the same engine, and the Factory version adds electronically controlled Öhlins suspension for the most demanding riders. The Misano, for its part, will remain what it was always meant to be: a singular object, for history enthusiasts who want to ride with a piece of Italian memory in their hands — not simply place it on a pedestal.
