Overview

When it comes to V4-powered hyper-roadsters, the firm from Noale doesn't need to justify itself. The Aprilia Tuono V4 1100 Factory has occupied this segment since 2015, when it was the first to transplant a boosted V4 into a naked roadster. Seven years later, with this 2022 version, the beast from Noale continues to defend its territory against a pack of competitors who have all seriously sharpened their claws.

Aprilia Tuono V4 1100 Factory

The eye is enough to understand that this is not an accommodating machine. The bodywork has been reworked with rare consistency: the integrated winglets are not just a fashion accessory, they play an aerodynamic role documented at high speed. The belly pan has gained prominence, the tail has stiffened, and the LED lights with adaptive cornering illumination sign a face that doesn't seek to reassure. The high seat at 825 mm immediately filters the clientele: the Aprilia Tuono V4 1100 Factory 2022 is aimed at experienced riders looking for a tool, not a Sunday afternoon cruiser.

What distinguishes the Factory version from the standard model is primarily the rolling chassis. Forget the Sachs components: here, it's Öhlins semi-active suspension all around. The 43 mm inverted fork and the single rear shock are managed by the Smart EC 2.0 system, which adapts the damping in real time according to the selected mode. Three automatic modes, Road, Track or Sport, or complete manual management for riders who want to control everything. On the track, it is this chassis quality that makes the difference against a KTM 1290 Super Duke R or a Ducati Streetfighter V4, two rivals with comparable power but a different temperament. The Brembo M50 radial 4-piston calipers bite on 330 mm discs: the braking is up to the rest, incisive and modulable.

The engine remains the 65° V4 of 1077 cm3, unchanged in displacement compared to previous generations, when the RSV4 benefited from an increase in displacement. This creates an implicit hierarchy within the range. Yet, the 175 horsepower delivered at 11,350 rpm and the 120.6 Nm of torque at 9,000 rpm remain figures that make you think. Euro5 compliance has not trimmed the power, only the peak revs, slightly increased. The 209 kg all full are reasonable for the category, and the 18.5 liter tank offers correct autonomy despite consumption that will rarely be frugal if you exploit the potential of the machine. The maximum speed announced at 260 km/h remains theoretical, but the engine misses no opportunity to remind you that it was not designed for cruising.

Priced at 19,599 euros, the Aprilia Tuono V4 1100 Factory holds its own considering the level of standard equipment: six riding modes including three dedicated to the track, inertial block, bidirectional shifter, traction control, anti-wheeling, anti-stoppie, Launch Control, cruise control and speed limiter. This is a list that some rivals cannot yet match without options. The Kawasaki Z H2 or the Triumph Speed Triple 1200 RS play in the same price range with strong arguments, but none offers the same combination of racing genes and advanced electronic adjustability. For the weekend track rider who wants a machine capable of being ridden during the week without denying its DNA, few roadsters reach this level of consistency. The Aprilia Tuono V4 1100 Factory 2022 has lost the crown in raw power to a competition that has radically muscled up, but it retains a chassis whose limits exceed those of most of its riders. That’s already a lot.
